My Fathers Day- Food And Goodies!

I had a nice day Sunday..My one son in Kansas City sent me a hilarious book with a card, and phoned me later from St. Louis, where he was starting his vacation. My other son stopped by with a banana cream pie, made at a local restaurant who specializes in pies, again with a funny card! Wife got me a box of Sea Foam from the local candy shop( which I love!) and picked up the meal I said I would like to fix for dinner!
Dinner was some high grade tuna steaks, fresh asparagus, rolls, and of course- the pie! Nailed the tuna perfectly- medium rare, seasoned with butter, fresh lemon, black pepper, and dried dill...asparagus was still crisp and delicious after steaming it, and the pie was perfect too! The photo is the "to go" plate we fix our son who works Sundays a mile from the house.
The book was about what his father used to say on all sorts of subjects, and any father should read this for some good laughs!
I had extra tuna, and will be making a tuna salad today out of some pretty pricey fish...

I haven't quite mastered crisp asparagus yet. Not done enough or mushy. I'll get there with more practice. Happy Father's Day.

Fresh Tuna from the Long Island Sound is my absolute favorite. I can't help it, I'm a Long Islander at heart I suppose:)

louise- Part of being a good dad, is taking care of the kids after they are grown. Never a real father, until yours passes away...

Sounds like your asparagus comes out just the way I like it. I'm glad to hear you had a Happy Father's Day! You should be pampered like that more often (with all the cooking you do!!). :)

Sea Foam?????

Buff, Me and a friend was discussing this subject just last week!
Some melted in your mouth, some melted kind of weird and hard!

I Love IT!!!

Sounds like you had a great Father's Day (as you should). I so love freah tuna and asparagus. What a terrific choice for a special meal.

You have good lads...one makes you laugh and the other treats your sweet tooth with a special pie. Of course he did get that nice meal to go out of the deal. A smart kid too. (smile) You taught him well.

What is "Sea Foam"?

One year I bought my dad a tape of Bill Cosby talking about being a parent. He laughed until he rolled. We all did. This was years ago but if you could find the tape somewhere I think you'd get a good laugh from it too.

Stacy- It was a good day for sure!
Eggplant- Salad came out great, but the melon wasn't as ripe as it could have been..
Ily- I cooked the meal because I wanted it right!
DogB- The restaurant it comes from isn't that good, except for their pies!
Carma- I'll post it later today..
G-man- fresh seafoam melts in your mouth, stale it is gummy!
Fingers- It was a treat!
J.J.- Sea foam is a candy that is like peanut brittle candy, only cream of tartar in it causes it to puff up and makes it airy and light..it is then dipped in chocolate- milk or dark.

Good food, good kids and laughs . . . that sounds like a great Father's Day!

buffalodick said...

Vick- Around this house, anything was fair game for laughs... Both my kids grew up, surrounded by jokes, laughter, and pranks..my Dad's side of the family were people who loved humor!
