Mother's Day...The Rest Of The Story..
My wife enjoyed her time with her sons (one on the phone, who sent flowers, and one who lives close coming over with candy and card!)..she liked the brunch, and now could relax! She wakes up from an afternoon nap and goes and mows the lawn! I offer to make her favorite sandwich spread, tuna salad! We use Albacore tuna in water, mixed with hard cooked eggs, mayo, mustard, celery chunks, and onion chopped..I add a little lemon pepper, because there is salt, black pepper, and lemon in it- works great! She snoozed again, and woke up to a nice sandwich! The other plate is a favorite snack around here that has been featured before- a pig in the blanket- using sausage with a mayo- hot sauce dip! Tasty and it keeps for later, if you wish! Tonight is BB-Q pork sandwiches- simple, but good!
I have been planning my assault on the Smack-down Challenge from Bama-Trav, and I think I have have a dark horse chance of winning!
Stay tuned...

bama-trav - smack-down????? what is this one?
Your wife must never have a bad meal, ever!
Darkhorse buffalodick. I love it !
DogB- Caribbean- I am ready, with everything but that damn jerk!
BlueV- I pooch stuff, as I freely admit..but everyone gets points for trying!
Heff- I'm going to hit them where they ain't! With good, unusual food they can fix at home!
ok, so what goes on in your house that momma gets fed all these delicious looking offerings while buffalodick does the cooking? does he cater? can i order out, because if i can then i would love one of those tuna salad sandwiches! hold the boiled eggs though, that is a ploy my mom always used to stretch the salad enough to feed all the youngens!
sheri- No stretching- we prefer that way of making it! Albacore? We are not going cheap- we like the less "fishy" flavor at twice the price! I can make anything you like, and nail it! My second career, if you wish to put a name to it...Feeding people is a very wholesome hobby I enjoy..
ok, how do you make the mayo hot dip?
Brian- Mayo and any vinegar based hot sauce in parts that work for you-and you're in!
You are a sweetie.. lucky wife..
Bet you'll do well.. good luck!
Donna- I'm no sweetie! Just fair.. she carries a load- me!
Buffalo, I am loving your Mother's Day! Lucky wife. But you must feel pretty lucky also.
Smack down? What's cooking?
Thanks for the link to the KC BBQ. We are planning a road trip to do nothing but eat BBQ. Now that's a vacation you can sink your teeth into.
Gypsy
ymmmm pigs in a blanket
Two of my other mom friends mowed the lawn on mother's day. Apparently, it's their "alone time!"
certainly a woman with great taste!! And so sweet of you to assmeble all of this for her!!
Hey we put egg in tuna too..all my friends think its weird..i love it...Your wife has it made...all my hubs cooks is breakfast foods...which are very good, I must say, oh and steak.....and he does great with those...and then his famous Kraft Mac n Cheese with mayo...I know, dont ask..YUK..!
I have been eating so much tuna lately I had to put a call out to a few medical practitioners to make sure I was not OD'ing on mercury, but they said the limit was more than I was consuming...Buff do you have a good jerk rub I could use? I have never made it and love it on catfish, my son will be visiting, and he also loves it...no posting it, only personal use...
Mrs Buff deserved a delicious sandwich after mowing the lawn! :)
Gypsy- The KCBS contests usually don't let the contestants give out or sell samples, but there is usually a booth to buy some from.
Darngirl- It's a quick snack to fix, when a whole meal sounds like too much.
Kate- I hate lawn work!
Ruth- She eats pretty well..it's my hobby to cook!
smArtee- My wife can cook certain items too!
ChefE- I usually make a paste for jerk. Two commercial brands I can recommend is Walker Woods or Mrs. Dog's..
Ake- She likes yard work as much as I hate it!
Your wife mows the lawn???!??? Damn! I am a great yard work supervisor. If it can't be done on 3" heels, I ain't doing it. On the other hand, my dearly beloved can't cook anything except scrambled eggs and cheerios, so it's even.
I'm with Marjie. The other day I offered to mow the lawn. There was a moment of silence and then we both burst out laughing. Ah..good times.
Marjie- I was a gardener for a car dealership one summer.. they had a pond, which I had to rake pond scum off for $2 a hour in 90F weather..lost my taste for yard work..
Pam- I want a lawn service, but my Dutch descended wife is too cheap..my motto is "let it grow"..
another delicious treat!
Look forward to the 'smack down'. I love to mow the lawn - gives me a break from talking to people. Perhaps that is why your wife likes it!
Nice of you to pamper the missus.....
Everything sounds great!
No mustard in my tuna salad though.
But I wouldn't toss it...hehehehe
YUM!!!!!! LOvin' it!
John
I am a lawn mowing nut . . . which is good since there's two acres of yard/field to keep up with. Sounds like a great Mom's Day to me!
Jingle- Thanks!
Fingers- I'm glad she likes to mow the lawn.. I did it for 30+ years!
UrbanV- She is pretty good to me, too!
G-man- Everybody makes that stuff just a little different..
John- When it's just two of us, we often have appetizers as a meal..
Vickie- I was thinking of getting a riding mower....
Sounds like a great Mom's day for your wife. Nap, fresh air & exercise and great company and yummy food. Who could ask for more then that?
Every time I come to visit your blog...I leave hungry. I love simple food made good.
