Another Simple Meal...Good Ingredients= Good Results
Simple doesn't mean tasteless or bad- remember that! I am, as most of you know, the Leftover Wizard! I swear I have more fun making something different from a left over meal! I did a pork roast a few days ago, with quite a bit left...simmered in a home made BB-Q sauce, after being chopped up- made a wonderful BB-Q pork sandwich! Ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, vinegar, onion and garlic powder, a bit of soy, molasses, and brown sugar- you got sauce!
Last night, a couple of boneless, skinless chix breasts, in olive oil and the dry poultry seasoning shown, roasted low and slow, with a Tiger sauce coating- made for a decent tasting chicken with corn on the cob meal! The corn was fresh and good- still being shipped in from down south- Michigan won't see home grown for a few months yet..
I can't stress enough that you don't have to spend a fortune to eat well..time and knowledge of simple dishes will elevate your meals to a level of enjoyment, rather than just edible.. "Simple things done well" is my cooking credo, and I'm still learning!

simple things done well...i think you just found the title of your book...nice.
Here here well said and your post made me so hungry!!!
I ALWAYS seem to come over here RIGHT BEFORE lunch. Arggh !!
Brian- I think you understand what I do..
Ruth- Living you need to eat and sleep.. I got half of it right!
Heff- If I am Alabama bound, you will be expected to provide a heat source- I'll do the rest!
that's an excellent credo for life in general!
I really like to experiment with my cooking. That's what makes it fun, but my most simple recipes are the ones that everyone loves. And it's what I make when people come over because it makes me happy to see them pleased. I'll save the fancy pants experiments for me and Gay Boyfriend.
I'm doing better. Simple is about all I can do, so it's good that simple is best.
Simple and elegant is best!
Remind me again. Just what are these "Leftovers" of which you speak?
I agree. Simple just tastes better!
carma- It took me too long to figure that out!
Kate- I can cook gourmet- I choose to stay with dishes anyone can make!
Jen- You are using your head and heart...
BlondeD- It is , and good is hard to argue with!
Marjie- about half of what I cook! This was a pork roast, turned into BB-Q! Leftover chicken will be next!
BlueV- Never apologize for simple done well!
Simple Things Done Well, has just surpassed "BAM" by ol What's his name on the NY Times best seller list!
Rachel Ray is now following BD's recipes!
Simple Things Done Well!
John
R Ray is a slob cook..she is an empire built by media..I could out cook her with one hand!! Emeril can cook, but he is a ham who makes money saying Bam, and audience claps when he adds garlic...The cooks I idolize have never been on TV..Paul Kirk, John Folsum, and Charlie Trotter...
I am ready to OD on BBQ and corn on the cob, feel the butter drooling down my chin as I type!
I'm not creative enough to make stuff from my leftovers... But I am glad you have fun with it! :) You're right. Simple doesn't mean tasteless. I love simple recipes with great flavors.
i wished i would have stopped by earlier so that i could have picked up the ingredients when i was out this morning! i always love coming by to see what you're whipping up next and you never let me down when i'm hoping it's good food!
ChefE- Corn was so good, we would have skipped the chicken!
Sook- I have found quality ingredients treated well, is better than fancy cover-ups!
sheri- Most of what I cook is in your house, or easy to obtain!
Simple things done well. Where is your food network show?!
aaah! Buffalo I love simple meals, and this sounds perfect specially at night, huggs gloria
Pam- I would love to spread the word to the masses!
Gloria- Our main meal is from 6-7 PM.. helps keep things in order!
I always looked forward to corn in Michigan. You just can't beat it. We used to be able to get bantam corn...up near Walloon Lake. Can you still find it anyplace? God it was good!
Is there anything better than eating fresh corn, butter dripping all over, out in the yard???
Well, perhaps the cherries we used to get up near Traverse.
Hold onto your wok, because after reading the Seventh Day Adventists live an average of 8-10 years longer than the general population (because they're vegetarian) I've actually begun cooking some vegetarian meals.
Although I must say I'm disappointed that the "Meatless Meals in 15 Minutes" cookbook recipes generally take me more like 45....
I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately. Working almost 35 hours a week and doing demos leaves me very little time for blogging and reading blogs. Thanks for your concern. I am doing quite well considering I'm a big frazzled.
Hey, I've lost 7 lbs this year despite your posts!
Neener Neener!
;)
Drool........
Yeah...
Florida sweet corn, 3 ears for a dollar!
Sounds good and looks delish. All faves from my childhood that are still on the top of my list. Your BBQ sauce sounds like a good mix.
You are such the food tease. I'm drooling. (SMILE)
J-
Barb- The Michigan grown stuff is great, but it's not here for a while!
Jeanne_ I eat more veggies than I used to, but never will be vegetarian!
Momster- Sounds like you've been busy!
R.L.M.- I love cob corn!
G-man- I paid 4 for a buck at Meijers..
J.J.- That was a quick sauc- didn't have time to do it right..
I so agree with you - you don't have to spend a fortune to eat well!

John
Ake- Eating well is in preparation and taste..
