First Effort Of My Card Party...

Is that a cheesecake you want to meet, or what? White batter was flavored with vanilla and almond extract, Dark was same, except the addition of baking chocolate and snick more sugar....Swirled through to create a pattern( and I have done better!) the cheesecake is tasty, light, and after drizzled with caramel sauce, is really quite delectable! Cheesecake seems intimidating, until you you learn how easy it is! Spring form pans- thicker metal(aluminum) the better.. basic recipe is half a box of graham cracker crumbs, mixed with 1 stick of softened butter and 1/2 cup of sugar..baked in a spring-form pan for 10 min. at 340F...4-8oz. of cream cheese, 4 eggs, 1/-1/4 cup sugar, 2oz. of flour, and 6oz. of sour cream, mixed until it is smooth. add vanilla and almond extract.. Pour white filling onto crust, then pour chocolate mix into it and design, and bake for an hour at 290F.. Turn off oven and leave cheesecake in oven another 30 min... Top with caramel before serving, and enjoy the compliments!
Oh yeah, the night before, we had skinless chix breast and fresh cob corn..not a photo op moment, but ate great!

My brother used to make a s'mores cheesecake and then he promptly lost the recipe. I still ask for it, but he's not doing anything about it.

Loving the swirls. Caramel sauce must make it all the better.

It does sound quite easy. I've never made cheesecake, I should give this one a shot. It looks great!

one looks so healthy...I think I'd have to go with the cheesecake ;)

I'm with Doggy--I want to see a slice of that cake with the caramel on it!!

Denise- Thanks! That cheescake recipe can be flavored about any way you want..
DogB- I'll try to remember when serving to get a photo.. used a brulee torch on caramel at the cook off I was in- neat tool in the kitchen!
K- I used to use melted chocolate, but it would re-harden when cooled!
Mona- I know how you like cheesecake!
Kate That recipe I used can be the base of any cheesecake you want to make, but I don't cook much with marshmallows, so I don't know about S'more flavored!
Donna- If you take time(which I never seem to!), you can create a lot of different patterns..
Jen- Buy a springform pan and try it!
Tavolini- I'll try for a photo when served!

Yummy! And you shared a recipe! Nice.

I hope you took the other players for some $$ Is your technique to make them tired with too many carbohydrates to let down their guard??

starB- Gotta love those flavors..
Hit forty- Anything that works...

It doesn't get more sinful than THAT! I love the idea of using almond extract (haven't done that in 20 years) and topping the cheesecake with caramel.

You sure know how to flirt with food!!

I'm not a sweets person, so I was more interested in the corn and chicken. Damn, BD, those look perfectly ready to eat!

Hubby loves cheesecake and I do not mind it with chocolate attached...I also would love to see a cameo piece, I bet its art on the tongue!

Scarlet- Almond extract is a light way to make a number of baked goods taste better!
Chris- I've begun to use Lawry's Poultry Seasoning, and it's all you need for quick chicken..
Stacy- My first set of spring forms were too thin...spent more money and got good ones!
Chef- I'll try to remember a photo!

Ake- Cheesecakes are easy! When I am intimidated by cooking something new, after I'm done I ask myself: "What were you afaid of, you weren't disarming a bomb.."

I've always been such a wuss about making my own cheesecake crust, but I guess now, I have no excuse!

buffalodick said...

Jason- Welcome to the blog! Be sure to pack the crust mixture down onto the springform pan. I use the bottom of a drinking glass- works great!

If it's really that easy then why is there a myth floating around EVERYWHERE that cheesecake is very difficult to make? Come on now, you're lyin'. You know we can't make one that'll come out that way.
