A Day At Sam's Club- And A Chili Cook-off Saturday!

My son and I went to Sam's Club today... something takes you over and you buy in quantities that the U.S. Government would envy! Suddenly, 24 rolls of toilet paper doesn't seem like a lot.. 8 large cans of black olives is a deal! 5lbs. of Italian sausage is a bargain..etc. $177 bucks later(before filling gas tank!) you ask your self- what was I thinking!!!! They must have subliminal messages playing over the piped in music! The guy in front of me was buying two old Jimmy Buffet CDs for 8.88 a crack! What possessed him? His 50ish wife had the blank look of a brain-washing...The Hispanics skip the cart and go for the flat bed cargo haulers..I guess they are buying for the neighborhood.. I did get a clip on pair of sun glasses, which the girl in the eye care department said they don't carry..cheerful, yet stupid...
I am making a ham and Havarti melt, on an English Muffin (broiled) for supper tonight, and it should be simple and good!
We still have to pick-up a few things for the chili cook-off Saturday, and it's supposed to rain. Oh well- welcome to my world! Wish me luck- I'm cooking my Wicked White Chili.. 3 1st place trophies in three years at this one!

LOL. You have described a trip to Sam's perfectly! I still have that 55 gallon drum of pepponcini taking up all the room in my fridge. Bought last summer and I think I've used about 15 of them. BUT, they were fifty cents cheaper than a small jar at Safeway. I will go on record that I have never, EVER chosen a flat bed cart.

Everything in my life is Sams Club size! You should know that I have toilet paper shipped in by the case every 2 months. Thank you Amazon Subscribe and Save. And if I don't order something in the number 10 cans (5to 6 pounds) my restaurant supply house asks if half the household is missing. I went to Sams Club once, and got out for only $392. My only other trip was close to $700. I want more of those giant boxes of cheese-its now!

Good luck with the chili, Buff!

I think the Mexicans are buying for the neighborhood and have the right idea. That's the only way I could shop at Sam's...because I don't need a gallon of mayonnaise...

That reminds me - I need another 500 pack of popcorn. Off I go !

I expect some AWESOME Chili photos, mister !

I go to Costco and buy certain things there, like toilet paper, ziplock, shrimp, scallops, and tomato sauce. :)

I feel the same way in Costco. The saving grace for me is...I have no space!

Good luck with the chili cook-off...my sister is driving back to Grand Haven today from Leland and the word is the rain will hold off until tonight. Hope she's right for both your sakes!

We trailer parkians know not of this bulk shopping of which you speak. I can barely fit a family size box of cereal in the cupboard!

I love Sam's Club. I've learned over the years just how to shop there, what's really great bargains and what can be bought cheaper on sale at the grocery stores. Also even if the price is great what good is having mass quantities of something if it goes bad before you can use it? And it takes time to learn to shop there without going into that dream like state, LOL.

Good luck on the chili cook-off today! Can't wait to hear if you bring home another trophy!

buffalodick said...

Uber- Made 3 gallons, all of which got gone- didn't win..
otin- This had a great flavor, but a little thinner than my usual..
G-man- Rained off and on all day- kinda chilly too!
Ily- Mine was really good, but 1st place went to the organizers friend, who set up the tents- the fix was in!
Barb- Not a pleasant day- rained a lot where we were..
Martha- No trophy this year..the judging was a little suspect..
R.L.M.- Fun places, but bring a calculator!
T.T.- I've got a lot of storage space in kitchen!

Listen to the music- (BUY LOTS OF SHIT) that is playing in the (BUY LOTS OF SHIT) background, and you'll see why (BUY LOTS OF SHIT), why people who go in (BY LOTS OF SHIT) they don't need.

Then they leave and when they get home they say- man we sure ____ ___ __ ____!!!!
