My 200th Post! A Mini- Meme....

When I started blogging, it was a way to comment on my sons' blog- the one that lives in Kansas City, MO. It quickly became a way to write down thoughts and events that someday in the future my friends and family might appreciate as an on-line diary. It then became a great source of entertainment and knowledge from people literally all over the world! It has taught me that we are all different- but not as much as I used to think.. I have referred to it as the 21st centurys' version of "pen pals"! I think if you all look backward on your blogs, you will see that you too have been documenting thoughts and events that people can read and appreciate after you are gone....
Todays' Mini-Meme:
1. Why and how did you start blogging?
2. How has it benefitted or affected your life?

I started blogging to comment on a friend's blog. Her blog is now caput, but I'm still here!

And yeah, I've met some really cool people.

I'm not as strange as I once thought after meeting all of you! :D

Congrats on your 200th post! Mine is comping up soon too!

Mini Meme answers:

I started blogging because a friend of mine said it would be good therapy.

It's benefited my life because it's enabled me to be "ME" and not just "mom" and "wife"!

Hey wait.... did RLL just call us all strange?? :)

I think she did! I think she's right...

CONGRATULATIONS on 200 posts!

I had a few friends who had blogs and I wanted to be one of the "cool kids" ... well that and I needed somewhere to sort through my thoughts before they exploded in my head. One day I logged on to blogger and the rest is history.

You know, it has really given me an outlet to be Dana - nothing more - nothing less. I've learned that I'm not alone in the world - that there are other people who not only understand me, but appreciate me just for being me.

I started blogging as a way to eascape reality and to have a little space to myself away from daily life. I don't get much adult interaction and this has proven to be great!

There was a time I thought I was the only perverted psycho out there in the world. Now I know this is not true! LOL

Congratulations on number 200!!!!!

Congrats on 200 posts.

Im my 1700+ posts in just over 4 years I have apparently entertained a few readers based on the comments. It's benefitted my life because it's (blogs/social networks, web in general) now a portion of my day job and I have a huge leg up on others in knowing what works and what doesn't.

Congrats!!!

I read blogs for a while--mostly food and cooking blogs, then I stumbled onto some more personal blogs that were funny, thought provoking, and sometimes just beautiful pics.

So we started up our blog just to share art, travels and food. You know, the good stuff ;)

I have have done this in my archives, like you I have met some superb folks, that I hope will think of me as there pen pal. So glad your one of them.

To all above; I failed to mention the average intelligence shown on our blogs is a bit above the curve! I like to think of us all as pretty smart folks who enjoy conversation, and aren't too bad at it! No mean people seem to stick around here very long...

blogging is the natural evolution of my diary writing and it has helped me understand and appreciate all the differences in this world...I love it.

I love your blog. Good for you , 200 posts! Many of which contain some delicious recipes. I try not to come around when I am hungry :)

I started to blog after I had my mastectomy. I stumbled across another single gal who was blogging about her experience. That was about a little more than a year ago.

Can you believe that before that, I never even read anyone's personal blog before? I didn't even know how to comment on hers.
Without her blog, I would have been very down! She made me laugh and it helped me understand what I was going through.

Now, I feel as if I made a few good blogging pals. I enjoy it.

I started to blog at the constant urging of my blog idol, Boondoggled. I was dead set against it at first, thinking the entire idea was silly. Then I was going thru another sad period in my life and I thought I would use it as an outlet. And as I have in my sidebar, it's become in inlet of great friends! I've met three blogging buddies already and intend to get together with more this summer! I just can't believe the great friendships I've acquired while doing this, you being one of them! :-)
Happy 200th and keep on trucking!

DogB- It is amazing how when we look back on some of our posts, they really do document our evolvement as writers, photographers, and people...
har- I sense you have had a bit of a re-birth on this subject! Who thought putting our thoughts down would be theraputic? :) I know it is for me...
odat- You too, kid! I always look forward to what you write!

I was inspired to start blogging when my sister in WA State sent me a link that a blogger had done on her beauty salon. The blogger, Roderick Graciano, is a minister of outreach in Tacoma, Washington. He has been walking the streets of Tacoma, praying over people, businesses, situations that he encounters, then journals about his adventures on his blog, "Walking Tacoma". And, he shoots some of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen!
His was the first blog experience I had. And, I was inspired...hence, my display name.

During the 2 1/2 years I've had a blog, I've encountered some of the sweetest, *bestest*, people! Many of them have become like family to me. I think about them at odd times and wonder about them, especially if they're absent from their blog for an extended time.

In 1 Chronicles 4:10, there is a prayer called "The Jabez Prayer".

And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying,"Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory".

Well, buff...I have been blessed and my territory has been enlarged.

(excuse the length of this comment?)

Remember my blog name at all times! I really don't care what anyone says- as long is it is their opinion! Freedom of Speech is the start of any great act or deed- whether you agree with it, or not! A famous Frenchman said one time, (and I paraphrase!) " I will not always agree with you, but I will defend your right to say it!" That's Freedom in a nut shell...

Congrats on 200! woohooo!

I started blogging because my daughter was, but she didnt stick with it. I was also inspired by Rosie O'donnell's blog. I love going to other people's blogs, its almost like approved snooping into other people's lives and I am nosy like that LOL

Its benefits? Its a great outlet for me. I always wanted to be a writer but am smart enough to know I have no talent but I can blog like there is no tomorrow! I have also made some great friends here. When my health was at its worst I could connect with people without leaving the house...it helps me deal with my health issues too.

I started blogging because I had a niece who blogged. I thought it would be fun to have more and more family members join in. Instead, my niece stopped blogging and none of the rest of my family was even interested in reading my blogs. But by that time I was hooked on the daily discipline and I joined the dailyphoto group and started showing photos of, mostly, my town.

Happy 200th to you.

Happy 200th!!!

A friend of mine mentioned she blogged and went to check it out. At first it didn't stick, but then I realized instead of copying and pasting emails to my friends around the world, I could write things once and publish for everyone to see. I was hooked!

The consequences... well, for one I invest so much time is reading and commenting, that I barely read anything else these days. Also lost a relationship (partly to blogging, partly to immaturity) and met some pretty awesome people around the world. I'd say the balance is positive!

My good friend Tanya started me blogging..

It has introduced me to a community that allows me to be me...flawed, functioning and hopeful. So many blogs have provided me with some high points to days where I thought there would be none. Just the thoughts of another person...how cool!

My oldest brother has had a blog going for about a year and a half and I enjoyed reading it. I thought, "What the heck, maybe I'll find something to say."

Since then I've had the privilage to meet some extraordinary people. The full range of emotions are poured out by all of us everyday. It's been very encouraging to me to be a part of the circle of friends in the community.

Congratulations on your 200th post!

I started blogging as an outlet for my frustration of how my son and i are treated.
I knew i wasnt alone, and its been great to read others experinces. The world is such a small place!

Congrats on your 200th post!
I started blogging the first time to write down my thoughts and a place to complain and bitch.
And then I stopped.
Now I'm back because I missed it.
I felt disconnected from a few friends on blogger.

buffalodick said...

casdok -You've given knowledge, and gotten some back, too... 8 years ago, I didn't even know how to start the computer!

buffalodick said...

Sherry- Hope you had a great trip! My first posts were well written, and nobody read them! Little by little, it grows... people find others who are funny , smart, kind, interesting, etc. and new friends are found- blog style!

Buf! I hope the snow storms are over out there. I heard about a 50 odd tornadoes striking central US.

Congratulations for the 200th post. I don't think I have reached 100th on my blog yet, but I guess it would have been more than 200 had it not got deleted by mistake last year.

I have been blogging since 2004 & started it by commenting on some far east blogs( having been invited by a friend living in Malaysia, to read his blog).
Later I hit the 'next blog' button out of curiosity which took me to US and My friend Charles' blog. since then I have been almost regular...

Blogging has made me interact & communicate on a global level & like you say, make me feel the oneness of human kind in general & I have made some very special friends in particular

buffalodick said...

Mona- You have taught me more than almost anyone, the world has 6 billion people and if we share knowledge, we will all gain...

Congratulations Buff on your 200th! You are so very right, in the beginning it was something I wanted to figure out and a fun hobby. It is much more to me these days than learning. Great mini meme!!

I got into blogging because I was on a message board where some super christian chick invaded, criticized everything "ungodly" and I no longer felt I could speak freely. My single mom friends from the site were all blogging, so I figured I'd try it.

I have made more friends through blogging than any other way I've made friends. It's been one of the best choices I've ever made and experiences I've ever had. (which is why I miss that I haven't been able to get to it as much lately!)

Most importantly, did you know that the way I met you was through Spidey (who I miss dearly.) who doesn't blog anymore. :(

Of course, I'm very grateful. :)
