4th Of July, Fireworks, Pork Ribs, And Deviled Eggs!

Be warned- No photos! In our rush to leave the house, I forgot my camera! I dry rubbed the ribs(minus membrane)and baked the ribs in the oven, in an aluminum pan- covered with aluminum foil at 300F for 3-1/2 hrs. Then I used a home made finishing sauce for another 40 minutes, uncovered..these were falling off the bone tender and full of flavor! None came home!
16 Deviled eggs were also made by me- a natural at a picnic outside....None came home, either!
We had a decent fireworks selection, and shot them from dusk until 11PM...No mistakes were made that night!
My knees were killing me, and from moving from a chair to a picnic bench, I went right on my ass! I had only had one drink, in case you're wondering!
Beautiful day on the lake, but a smaller turn out than years gone by...
Hope you had a good one, too!

Hope your knee feels better already and if not, soon.

Sounds like your eggs are a real winner and those slow cook ribs... man I wish I could sample those!

Even without the pics, I can still see them in my mind's eye. I'm going to do some ribs tonight in your honor!
Hope the knee doesn't last too long. I have a couple of bad ones, so I know...

I have been avoiding the fireworks because there are so many tourists! In fact, I'm pretty sure I was asleep before dusk.

Sore knees seem to go with Good Cooks. Treat yourself this week and buy a Chef's Mat. It will save your knees while you slave away in the kitchen.. you treat everyone else with your delicious offerings, time to treat yourself!

Awww, Poor UncleBuf--maybe you were just worn out from all that cooking!! ;)

We had some fabulous BBQ at my cousin's house and the old-fashioned set 'em off in the driveway kind of fireworks in the backyard. Small and simple. Glad to hear your fourth was great too. Take care!! (I mean it! :))

All sounds good, BD! (except the unfortunate fall, of course.) We drug chairs, blankets, tequila, peanuts, beer and ourselves deep into a field and watched some amazing fireworks. We had a blast!

Sorry 'bout your spill and your knees, but sounds like you had a fine time anyway. I look forward to hearing more about those ribs of yours - next time with pix?

We had a pretty low key get together in the neighborhood this year. It was kind of nice for a change.

I did ribs with a guava glaze that I made with some of the pork juice from tenderizing the ribs. Added depth of flavor and took away the cloying sweetness of the guava! Green mango salad and fingerling potato salad! It rained all weekend but cleared up in time for the fireworks! Glad you had a good time BD!

I well remember those lovely picnics by Michigan's beautiful lakes, BD. I miss them.
And I'm sorry you forgot your camera to record it all for us.

It rained here although it didn't stop the fireworks!

Glad you had a good time. Sorry about the sore knees...I'm with you on that front. I hope you don't have anymore falls.

The ribs and d. eggs would have been a real hit with me. Sounds finger lickin' good.

None of the holidays are like I remember them when I was young. I hate that everything has changed but I'm trying to be okay with it.
