Mini-Meme, A Holiday Theme!

Let's face it. There are events coming up this Holiday season that you look forward to, and others you are dreading! As I grow older, I see the hassle of gift giving for adults just that- a hassle... Kids getting gifts is fun! I look forward to giving the gift of good cooked food, and home made treats far more than a new pair of wool socks.
The two questions today are:
1. What do you absolutely look forward to this Holiday season?
2. What is the part you could do without?
Me first!
1.- Getting together with friends and family, to share good eats- and enjoy each others company!
2.- The traveling, schlepping presents, crock pots, picking up people, etc... the mechanics of making a party happen can wear you out before the party starts!
Be honest in your answers- these Mini's go pretty fast, so have fun with it!

1. Seeing the excitement on my grandchildren's faces. Having my family around me, especially my Dad (85), my MIL (80) and my FIL (92) - I hope it won't be the last time.

2. Snow.

I wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas and a Healthy & Happy New Year Buff. x

Kate- You can have my snow, and lose the guilt! Happy Holidays!
Ake- How blessed are you? Parents and grandchildren both! I envy you, but you deserve it! Happy retirement, Christmas, and new adventures in 2010!

1) Turning the lights off in the living room and looking at the lit up Christmas tree

2) The pressure to make the holidays perfect

Merry Christmas BD!

1. All the kids are home. My house is loud. My cup runneth over.

2. I've finally run out of ideas for gifts for adult children, so I'm trying to find each of them a couple of appropriate things, then copping out with a check. I hate being forced to that position; I feel like I've quit trying.

buffalodick said...

Marjie- No you haven't! You are just moving on! I am that man!

Brian- I miss being younger, as I remember these things that are now gone forever...You will have a wondrous time!

Christmas Eve is always special around our house. It is the anniversary of the night we decided to get married. Always look forward to Christmas Eve with my wife...

Sadly, lost track of all the kids and nieces and nephews on Christmas morning. None of that for us this year

HO HO HO! Merry Christmas from me and Otin!

I am looking forward to all of the smiling faces!

I am dreading frostbite!

Why can't Christmas just be Thanksgiving #2? But like, with more parties involving crockpots that lead up to it?

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Forward to - seeing family.

Not - the drive to see family. Worrying that the cats will knock down the tree and wreak havoc through the house while we are gone.

1)Love laying in bed on Christmas morning watching "The Christmas Story" movie. It's a tradition with me and the hubby. Also love Christmas music. Getting together with friends/family, cooking.

2) I really don't like getting the annual Christmas gift "want list" from one of my stepsons. Always lengthy, expensive and selfish. I dread looking at it (there I said it and I'm glad I did)

Merry Christmas BD!

Just telling it like it is said...

I honestly hate to shop...I love to give gifts but I don't want to be forced to give them because our world says we have to at this time...I much prefer giving when I want to!

I am looking forward to spending time with Logistic guy...
My son for the first time in years will be with his father for christmas...I'm okay with that...I love just spending time with the ones that I love...This Christmas much better than last year!!!

Although Engineer guy did send me a e-mail and text...I am happy to be away from him

1. I was thrilled yesterday to have all my children and grandchildren arrive safely (and on time) from various parts of the country. It rarely happens.

2. I wish I could spend more time with them today (the 24th) but will be cooking all day!

Merry Christmas, BD, to you and you family.

I think I stay in pretty good holiday spirit and enjoy the whole season for the most part, but my very favorite is still seeing my kids happy and excited when they open their gifts on Christmas morning. The part I don't like much is the fact that I'm the only capable adult in my family. Everyone else is either too old, too young, too far away to be here or disabled, it puts a lot on me. I don't mind, I do everything out of my love for all of them but it sure does wear me out!

A very Merry Christmas to you and yours BD! *Hugs*

1. I look forward to my new sex toys each year. The previous years toys are worn out by then.

I also look forward to marathon baking sessions, and the shots that keep me awake to do it;)

2. I hate some of the phoniness that comes with the season.

buffalodick said...

Vmom- Hope yours was great!
Nat- Food post coming up!
Martha- I end up the sole cook, so I understand!
Baht At- Pretty good way to do things!
Donna- I believe you!

1) Snow, beauty, a few days without pverty (in my life)

2) Family, religion, financial troubles, the fact that the whole festival is based on a pagan festival and everything boils down to religion.

3E- Interesting take on all this, not without truth...Welcome!
