Shrimp On Skewers, Sauced- With White Rice..
I like raw shrimp I have to clean and peel myself. I know then what I'm dealing with, with no surprises! I took a pound of said product, and after prepping them, skewered them and coated with a nice Asian sauce. Broiled in about three minutes per side, and served with white rice- they got gone in a hurry! My wife is a shrimpaholic, and mouwed through her share and half of mine! A little of the sauce on the rice was enough to flavor and tie the meal together nicely...
Tonight, mini meat loaves, with sour cream herbed scalloped potatoes- from scratch! That's the next post, of course!

Shrimp and rice. Simplistic bliss. (Not that it sounds elementary what you did there of course, just a classic combination!) Sounds delightful!
There's something about a skewered food that makes it even more appealing!
That shrimp looks amazing! If Asian sauce is sweet and spicy, I'll love it! I'll love it anyway.
PS - You inspire me. :)
cant beat this with a wet stick - and its too friggin cute that you "like to clean and peel them yourself" I am still giggling over that one...
Shrimp lasts about two seconds in my house!
whoop whoop...love the little buggers!
I'm so glad I started using raw unpeeled shrimp. I haven't yet tried deveining them though, is that a pain?
I can't do shrimp. It tastes like it's still alive. It's a texture thing and it's lumped in there with mushrooms and rhubarb sauce. They squick me. But I DID try fresh shrimp on the beach in NC - barbequed on the grill and as long as I cut it into miniscule pieces, I liked it. Sigh. I kept eating green beans hoping I'd take a liking to them, and I finally did. I wish it was the same with shrimp.
Yummy! I prefer shrimp that has been split and cleaned but with shells on. I still have no surprises but less work at the same time.
Can't wait to see your mini meatloaves tomorrow :-)
PS- Loved your comment over at my blog today, LOL!
Jules- Simple things done well is my motto.. fresh food, simply cooked will always be the best meal you can get!
BlueV- High summer on the grill is even better!
Ily- Thanks! Love to cook for you someday..
DogB- What? It insures quality cleaned and cooked!
otin- Get not between my wife and shrimp!
Griller- they do get gone in a hurry!
Mr.C- No! It's easy! Just cut down the back and take out anything that looks groody..
Kate- Undercooked, mushy..Overcooked, tough.. Get them done right, and you'll love them- in the right sauce!
yum. when we lived in florida our next door neighbor was an inspector...when he would open up a thing of shrimp to inspect, they would usually just give it to him...we had such feasts!
I have been craving shrimp and rice ever since I had it at this Portuguese place in Hoboken, now this just send me over the edge...Mini meatloaf, okay what time is dinner, because now I want it all!
Love me some shrimp on the barbie!
I'm crazy for shrimp! Any old way as long as they're fresh and not overcooked. Your dish looks super good- broiled perfectly.
(I left you a surprise on my blog, whether you want it or not!)
I'm a shrimpaholic too. Your meals always sound amazing.
My name is Katherine and I am a shrimpaholic too!
This looks really good and I am looking forward to your next post too!
I was thinking of making shrimp for dinner tonight and I live with 3 other shrimp scavangers to. Can you picture our dinner table when shrimp is served?
Brian- My wife would leave me for a neighbor like that!
Chef- This time of year, the stores run specials on shrimp for the Holidays..
Barb- Overcooking is how most people manage to screw up a perfect shrimp dinner!
Peach- Just simple stuff, and paying attention while cooking it!
Katherine- I really like scallops better, but all shellfsih is good in my book!
BD: Thanks for catching the missing M; I would have really caught it from my old U of M buddies. Did you go there too?
I love shrimp. I can eat shrimp all day long.
Barb- I'm a G.R.J.C grad.. worked my butt off to send my eldest there! He is now a Software Architect making good money in K.C. MO, I'm a real fan of the Wolverines! Amazin' Blue! When football is down, it doesn't mean the school is bad!
Shelly- It's good stuff! My sauces are not unknown in the area...
I love shrimp but MWM isn't so keen - lucky for me when we have shrimp. LOL
I love shrimp, too. A friend brought 5 pounds of shrimp and cocktail sauce for Thanksgiving afternoon appetizers, and they disappeared fast!
Ake- My wife ate her half, and half of mine! I understand..:)
Marjie- My wife and her sister will graze until all is gone- then try and look innocent!
Good stuff, that shrimp!
I can't wait to see those loaves!
Gene- Agreed!
BlondeD- Soon- very soon!
I love shrimp. I just bought a gob of flash frozen gulf shrimp that are burning a hole in my freezer. Can't wait for the scalloped potato post.

I could live on seafood.
What brand sauce did you use,Buffy?
Boots- Picking more up today!
Uber- A mix of ginger soy BB-Q sauce, honey, hot sauce, and soy sauce..
I don't think they have a 12 step program for your wife's shimpaholicism. Maybe there's a patch she can wear? LOL
I'm like you, I don't want any shrimp that's been preprocessed. I would rather clean them!
That sounds amazing!
Kate
Chris- I've known my wife for 40 years(counting High School!), and if we go anywhere that serves shrimp- that what she will order! The cooked and cleaned shrimp are flavorless compared to fixing them yourself from raw..
Kate- Welcome! Simple stuff, really..
Im with your wifey on this one....... I LOVE prawns with a passion - dam that looks good enough to eat lol....... licking the monitor :)
x
Marmy- I'm a fool for any woman licking anything! LOL!
