Korean Beef Short Ribs And Brown Rice Deluxe!

I can't find beef short ribs anywhere in this area except at Sam's Club.. I love the Korean version of this cut of meat, and look forward to it every time I buy the ribs!
I marinate them for a full 24 hrs. in a rice wine vinegar, minced garlic, hosin, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced onion, and white pepper mix that gives a wonderful depth of Asian flavor I seem to be hooked on lately! You must cut the ribs as shown, to achieve an optimum flavor and tenderizing effect. Unlike pork ribs, that are best cooked low and slow, the beef short ribs are broiled at a high heat for 10-12 minutes a side...Baste throughout cooking with the simmered marinade(safer!) and enjoy! The brown rice was dolled up with celery and onion- with a bit of the marinade for an enhanced flavor..
Our meal is waiting as I write this..couple of more photos, and we're done!

They're still tender even with such a short cook time? That flavor sounds fantastic!

These sound and look great! I seem to gravitate towards pork ribs, but perhaps the next time I get the rib urge I change my ways.

Great idea to use some of the marinade to flavor the rice! Now, why have I never thought of that!

Isn't it funny that what used to be a cheap unwanted cut of meat is so 'special' now?

You always make me ravenously hungry when I stop by here... ;)

Those look absolutely delicious! I haven't been able to find any beef short ribs in this area except for BJ's (because they're closer to where I am than Sam's Club is...*grin!*) Now I'm adding them to my shopping list for my bi-monthly shopping tomorrow... :)

Wonder why you can't find short ribs? I'll have to ask my sister if she can get them and where. (She finally made it up north.)
Anyway..the ribs look delish and your marinade has such wonderful flavors. Would love to try this.

I've had a tought time finding beef short ribs here too. Your Asian ribs and rice sounds wonderful. I'm like you I get addicted to the smells and tastes, they are intoxicating!

Wow, this was a mistake. I'm getting a colonoscopy tomorrow (only TMI, I guess, if you personally know me!) and so I can't eat today. Probably shoulda stayed away from pictures and a story about great food. Guess I'll go lick the Burger King ads in the paper!

Just telling it like it is said...

They look delish but what is holisn

Uber- Plain old Tacos tonight.. and do me a small favor? Lay off Politics..we know what's wrong with ours, but it's like family- family will fix it. I thought hard about this, and no nation can throw rocks at another.. let's all clean up our own back yard first.

Jen said...

Yum. I'll have to see if I can find the short ribs at my local market.

buffalodick said...

Jen-Welcome to the blog! They are a little intimidating, but marinated until they yell- and cooking them quickly.. well, they sure eat good!

Just telling it like it is said...

Ahhh got ya

Buff-all went well. I was clean as a whistle, I'm groggier when I get up in the morning than when I woke up from my "procedure", and, after it was over, I ate like Rosie O'Donnell at Golden Corral.

pinknest said...

Short ribs! I made them not too long ago. Love them. Do you have Korean restaurants near you?

Buff, just wanted to pop in and say thanks again for the White Chili recipe. My biggest and best clients had a fit over that soup, begged for the recipe and carried on and on. Plenty of red wine goes well with it also ;-)
