Friday Nights..Remember When..

When younger, Friday night was our night to howl! Before marriage- with the boys! After marriage, with other couples! I couldn't wait to get together with friends, food, and libations! As I grew older, Fridays started a little later, and a little tamer... Now we're of an age where socializing is Saturday night! Fridays are now how early we can get in our robes, and watch a movie on TV- after a bite of something simple to eat..
Tonight, we had tacos..tomorrow will be pizza night, with friends! Everything you see, you could put on your square bottomed taco! Wife ate three- loaded! I had two, and enjoyed the simple food immensely! We planned Saturday night with our friends, coming over and decided I'd better make some cookies and pick up some munchies to catch up over.. Still in the air if I will make a Dad pizza, or have one delivered.. We need to get in contact with them on final plans!
Enjoy your week-ends, people..enjoy life while it is still in you!

Simplicity. It is what makes me happy. Tacos. Pizza. Friends. Yes.

Mmmm love my Friday nights - I get to have an extra glass of wine and enjoy a movie. Now that the kids have their own families, I'm learning to slow down and savor life - love the advice, BD! To life!

Heff- I'll fight, just for fun.. what the Hell are you talking about?
Brian- I got to an age, where I either hung on, or said screw you! I've never hung on- humiliating me for money is futile!
Kate- A lifetime of interaction with people has made me a bit of a doubter on folks.. I have realized no one helped me, except a handful of people, where I helped thousands... I still believe there is a worth in helping people. It is who I am.
Highlander- Who would have expected to get where a week-end could wear you down?

buffalodick said...

Vick- It's harder than you would think, but the right thing to do...

Friday nights are when I try to stay up past 10.

Mmmm tacos! I've been hooked on french bread, olive oil and goat cheese. Need to get creative soon!
Enjoy your weekend, sounds like fun.

Lately I find myself loving my weekends quietly at home more than a *rawkus night out. (*is that even a word?)

I'm so exhausted this weekend that I'd like to spend the entire weekend in my robe watching movies and blogging - hey, I can dream can't I? Unfortunately there is lots of cleaning, laundry and the usual to be done.
Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend :-)

I can still remember the times when I used to be partying EVERY night, well vaguely remember. ;)

Saturday nights have always been our night out and hopefully will continue. :)

Pam- I miss the energy of youth!
Jen- Sounds good to me right now!
Jules- pretty close to ruckus, which is a word!
Deb- We had to move pizza Friday to Sat., then found out we have to wait until Sunday!
Martha- Pace yourself! Try and enjoy a little down time...
Mona- those are the toppings for the tacos- they are like a meat salad in a shell..you'd like them!
Ake- A life long sales rep- well, it wasn't just Fridays!
G-man- Sounds easier than trying to find your way home after staying at the pub too long on a Friday night!

ha ha my husband and I are the same way and we've only been married 3 1/2 years. :) Friday nights, we are always tired so we try to rent a movie and stuff. :)

buffalodick said...

Sook- Don't you think you and your husband get a little down time? Relax! We all don't have to make forward progress every waking moment..enjoy your life- It's the only one you get...

love that quote; we sure ain't getting any younger and I become more aware of the preciousness of life with each passing year...

about the food - those tacos look scrumptious. Have you ever made one of those seven layer dips. I swear I've been wanting to do that..

Hope your Saturday evening went well. did you decide to order pizza or did you make it?

Carma- As the old song goes, (Momas and Papas) say.."Go where you want to go, do want you want to do" ..Life is a huge merry go round, that only make one circle ...Enjoy the trip, every moment!

Hey Buff, I thought you said you didn't show your writing talent here. After reading that, I think you let some get into this post.

When's the book coming out??!

I want tacos and pizza! Unfortunately most of our friends have moved away for various reasons but we have a big enough family to make every meal a party!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Thanks for your birthday wishes for our son.

Your blog is such a breath of fresh air! I think you should write a book...seriously. You are so genuine. You could call it, "Cooking in the Buff" Do you love it? haha!

My older kids make fun of us for not going out, but I'm happy here in my house! Family, food, dog, what else do we need?

I have to do the same but on a Wednesday and Thursday night... weekends just aren't the same when they are Thursday / Friday!!

Hi UncleBuf,

This has been one of my favorite parts of moving back to StL. So many of my best friends are here. We've already had more get togethers since I've been here than I ever had when I lived up north. I'm so much happier socially and my best friend's hubby is a fabulous cook so that's a perk too. :) Can't wait for summer and BBQ weekends by the pool!

mmm--I could definitely handle eating some tacos and watching a movie on Friday night :)

Or bowling and pizza on Saturday! And then you could come over for biscuits on Sunday.

Buffalo--sounds like you guys are having a great time--I want to see pictures of the Dad pizza :)

RLM- Blogging has sharpened up some old writing skills, that's for sure!
Tracey- It's just my wife and I most days, so it can be a little hard sometimes to cook anything in a small quantity!
Rachel- Me in the buff would cause people to lose their appetite! Funny thought, though!
marjie- I spent a career entertaining on an expense account..and I simply got tired of it!
E.D.- I'd rather go to lunch on a weekday than dinner on a weekend- fighting the crowd..
Snowniece- Glad you're happier now..we all do need friends!
Tavolini- I'll take a photo of the pizza tonight, when the guests arrive!

Chris said...

We're very selfish with our weekends these years. We make them all about us and just enjoy ourselves, which means as few as commitments as possible.

Know just what you mean!! Hmm Friday nights and gorgeous looking tacos, make a stressful week look like a blur!

buffalodick said...

Chris- I used to have a too active social life..since I quasi retired, I really don't look for things to do!
Ruth- I had too many weeks and years that are gone now..Glad I did what I did, but you can't keep up that pace forever!

So very true but when it does help to have some good quality food and company waiting for you at the end of a long week. For me, there will never be anything as therapeutic as cooking lol it always helps me to get back in touch with who I really am

buffalodick said...

Ruth- I don't mean to brag, but I know more than most about specialty metals than anyone around here..that knowledge was the direction I took, when many options existed..Cooking was how I relaxed at the end of a day. I found more and more, I was passionate about it, and learned and competed a lot! I enjoy problem solving, and watching people enjoy good food...I teach where I can, I learn when I can..I have two answers to the question asked of me frequently- Do you know everything? 1. Yes! Never question me again..2. No, but I am working on that!
