Steak Fajitas, Good Stuff!

Sunday found us taking our time, and enjoying doing little or nothing.. We do have one big meal in early afternoon, which seems to be enough, with a little snacking later that night..
I sliced the remaining prime, rare, rib-eye into thin, red strips of tender, flavorful pieces.. I also sauteed red bell pepper, and thinly sliced onion in olive oil, adding the beef on the end- all seasoned with chili powder, garlic, sea salt, and pepper.. No marinade for this- meat was too noble to do that to it! I then put Jalapeno salsa, and red salsa onto a large, soft flour tortilla, and piled on the fillings, piping hot!
This was good stuff! Bright flavors, and colors- with a nice mix of textures to boot! Wife had a side of rice, with fajita sauce on it.. Son loved it, and wife and I both thought it tasty, and not too heavy! Less can be more..simple things, done well- my Motto in cooking!

Philosophy agreed with sometimes less is more in cooking. These sound out of this world fabulous, BD!! Oh, Id so love one with this meat. Why does that sound dirty coming out of my mouth?

This is the third mention of fajitas, and my sister knows I will curse her on the phone when she tells me her hubby who is a GM of a Tex-Mex place in Dallas just brought them home a batch for her dinner! I made a sad attempt of flatbread, skimpy mushrooms and a tad bit of steak left overs, onion and peppers, and a dab of guac from our subs on Sat...I pretended I was sitting on the patio of a place, as I bit into the thing...it worked for the moment, but yours look and sound a lot better!

You have quite the talent for making me hungry for fajitas while I'm having my first cup of coffee! :)

You can't go wrong with keeping it simple and sauteing peppers and onions with a tender ribeye and adding some salsa is one tasty and fatasntic meal! sounds like a wonderful Sunday Buff!

My butcher does fabulous minute steaks which cut into strips with red onions and green, red and yellow peppers makes a great fajita filling. :)

It beats having a truckload of clowns shut off your water to repair your well on sunday. Looks like it was a good day in Michigan.

Pink- I'd love to try some from Texas sometime..
G-man- Those tamales you made looked great!
Katherine- They were large, spiced about right, and all the flavors came through equally.. Fast, too!
Brian- Read a number of fajita sauce recipes, and decided olive oil, chili powder, garlic, and cumin would be about right...
Ake- Sounds perfect!
Marjie... I have been in that situation too... sorry!
BlondeD- Thought of a do-over with chicken tonight, but thought a boneless, broiled, chix breast, with BB-Q sauce, onions and pickle slices on a bun might be nice too!
Shelly- Whenever I see a recipe with ridiculous, needless ingredients- judge the cook's level of competence..
Griller- We get taco'ed out, and look for new Tex-Mex flavor combos..

Love fajitas! You really threw a winner together..your seasonings and salsa must have given it a nice zip!
A male friend of mine once mixed leftover steak with sour cream, worcestershire sauce and onions and served it as an appetizer. (Can't remember ingredients exactly, but that's close.)Sort of like a cold stroganoff. It was actually very tasty.
