Oatmeal, Crasins, Chocolate Chip Cookies, And Honey Wheat Bread!

I was a useless piece of crap Friday and Saturday when it came to cooking...Sunday, I caught fire- making that homemade pizza, and some really great Oatmeal cookies! I love my dried, sweetened cranberries, and semi-sweet chocolate chips that adds richness, but doesn't sweeten the cookie all that much! They came out chewy, and not overdone in any way! Two dozen are almost gone!
Today, I made a couple of loaves of home made light honey wheat bread... Tasty.. made ham and cheese sandwiches, with mayo, lettuce, and a touch of mustard.. Not bad, but Ithink this bread is better with just butter or honey..Didn't rise as much as some, quite substantial!
It's good to try new things...It's how we learn!

I just discovered dried sweetened cranberries last week. I've been missing out!!

If you're ever taking in tenants over the garage and you include food in the rent, holler!

Yummmmm! If I give you my address, would you send me a care package? ;)

Bend over, I need to smack you, how dare you call yourself a useless piece of crap. Bad boy.

Your honey wheat bread is right up the alley of what I like.. is it a quick or yeast bread?

I love honey wheat bread...since I live in the country of the baguette, I never get any flavorful bread like that.

I almost bought some dried cherry's yesterday, but a 12 oz pkg was 6.99!!!!
Craisons are a better buy.

Sometimes, well a lot of the times, I wish you would post you recipes because that honey wheat bread looks really good!

Looking at all of the food you prepared this weekend, you are the most productive useless, piece of crap I have ever seen!

P.S. Thank you for your kind words...you made my day!

Wow, sounds great! Craisins and chocolate chips sound like an excellent combo for a cookie :)

My successes with honey wheat bread came when I do one part wheat flour to 2 parts white. Or if you want more wheat, try using pastry flour or adding gluten to lighten it up a bit. Overall, YUM.

I discovered Craisins last spring, and now my dearly beloved is most disappointed if I don't have some whenever he wants them. I make bread just about every day, and some are decidedly better than others. Some also just don't work as sandwiches, but make excellent toast. Live and learn, as you said.

DogB- No milk drinker either, but a good cookie is hard to ignore!
BlueV- A bat is in the garage, and a red squirrel is in the shed.. you'd have to take one of the two vacant bedrooms!
Stacy- Requests are always considered!
Donna- Yeast, but rose slower than an 80 year old man with no Viagra!
Angela- Come home to the States! Crime, high taxes, shootings, and good bread!
KB- Missed you for many reasons!
G-man- Dried cherries are killer- but expensive!
Katherine- Any praise you get from me is always well earned by you!
Lini- I did use 2 to 1, but it is still a heavy bread, filled with flavor and texture..
Jules- Ham and cheese is one of my favorite pairings for a sandwich.
Beth- Welcome anytime! You know that by now...
Ake- If you get used to white knuckles!
Marjie- This stuff was good, but I have made better...
K- Cookies gone! It's a keeper, for sure!

I love dried cranberries and cherries. End up eating most of them before I can get them in a recipe! Can't wait to try your cookies.
An old Michigan firm has the best dried fruit mixture- American Spoon. I mail order it all the time, although it's easy enough to make yourself.

barb- I love dried cherries the best, but they have gotten very pricey... I have two dehydrators, and thinking of making my own!

Karine said...

Dried cranberries are quite addictive. I love your cookies: They seem to have a great combo of flavors!

buffalodick said...

Karine- Thanks! I tend to make a heartier cookie than some who shoot for visual appeal! I like cookies that remind you of a granola bar!

I made some wheat bread this weekend too! It must have been in the air! :)

buffalodick said...

BlondeD- Wheat flour(the good stuff) looks more like cigar ashes than flour! I'm thinking French toast with what's left of the bread...

I love your comment above about scrawny people food. HA!

Kris- Eating healthy is wonderful.. you're still gonna die someday..
Boots- It is an indoor garden with a built in light over the plant. Wife grew basil, that was transplanted to pot outdoors and got huge! She enjoys it, and when she's happy, she isn't bothering me... :)
Well- I know you've got an Opinion, and the smart money is betting on you to have a Rectum..what's so funny? HeeHeeHee...

Just telling it like it is said...

I am not keen on biscuits, I have to admit. And I HATE oatmeal.

I do love homemade bread with hot butter though. :)

What's a craison?

buffalodick said...

Uber- You would like these cookies! A crasin is a dried, sweetened cranberry- like a raisin, but better!

Ace said...

That's it!! I leave you for a few minutes then you get advertisements!!

Otin did tell me your blog name idea. My younger sister vetoed it!!!

buffalodick said...

Ace- Welcome back! Be careful out there, Little Ranger....

JihadGene said...

The cookies are cool but let me at a warm slice of that bread!

buffalodick said...

Gene- The bread wasn't bad, but the cookies were better!

Jamie said...

Mmm chewy cookies with dried cranberries and chocolate chips are the absolute best! No wonder they are almost gone! And the bread sounds delicious!

UBERMOUTH said...

I would like crasins .

Ace said...

I need to stay home and cook all day!! Fresh bread!! Outstanding.

buffalodick said...

Jamie- Cookies better than bread..by a nose!
Uber- I love dried cherries better, but these are half the price!
Ace- You need a hot soak in a bath, and nobody bothering you for 40 minutes...
