Food Lately..

Saturday night we had a simple fish sandwich- broiled tilapia seasoned with lemon pepper and dill, on a bun with lettuce and mayo... I had a photo, but must have deleted it!
Sunday, a beef pot roast, along with cauliflower topped with aurora sauce.. This sauce is essentially a white sauce, with tomato paste added. My version involves tomato sauce, cheese, and sour cream, with herbs.. delightful change from just cheese sauce! Having a smooth sauce that is not too tomatoey and not too rich, is a pleasant change- try it!

Mmmm..everything involves cheese with you. And rightfully so! I've never actually made a pot roast.. is that crock pot, oven, what?

And when the weather warms up there (as it did here today, briefly), will you be adding the grill to the blog agenda?

Yum!
Tonight we had an international meal to get us excited for our travel abroad. English Pasties, Italian pasta carbonata and French Crepes! It was a ton of work, but worth it in the end!

I wish I didnt have a love affair with food!

DogB- Larder was down a bit, so it was good old pot roast. The sauce is a pleasant change..
Ake- The sauce tastes like thick cream of tomato soup more than anything!
K- Good meal when you don't feel like going all out!
G-man- I really don't like cauliflower, unless there is a sauce on it!
CDB- I wrap it tightly in a leak proof layer of aluminum foil with spices and herbs, some liquid and bake in oven for 3hrs. at 300F...Foolproof! I'll be grilling soon, and BB-Q too!
Helene- Around the world in one meal!
Donna- The sauce I know you'll like!
Marmy- It all got eaten by three people!
Emily- A lot of variations of sauce- Bechamel, velute, aurora are all kissing cousins. Beyond that there are the personal tweaks!

that would probably be the ONLY way I'd eat cauliflower.

Yum! I luv tilapia, it's one of the few fish I will eat. No bones, & it doesn't have that heavy fish smell. I will have to test out the sauce.

I love sauces, especially those that are salmon in color and served over pasta...but anything over white rice is always good.

I should jot down some of your suggestions next time. You make my stomach growl every time I visit you. :)

Heff- good, simple sauce- actually goes on fish pretty well too!
Bender- Try sauce- way good on veggies and fish!
Scarlet- E-mail me for any questions on a recipe.. happy to help anytime!
