The Blog, Opinions and Rectums Strikes Back!

Lately I've noticed a trend of people who blog, ask for answers, and if the answers don't fit their ears- get mad or offended. If you don't want a different point of view, don't invite one! You grow through input, not sympathy.. Sympathy is given when needed, not when asked for.. I admit to being a bit snarky lately, but I take umbrage when a woman that doesn't know me tells me "I don't understand".. Of course I don't see it your way all the time, but it doesn't mean I don't understand.. I want everyone to have an opinion, and I want everyone be prepared to defend it! Free speech is a Constitutional Right- one I defend at all times. Speak your mind- don't just sympathize- one is enabling, the other might be real help.. This is my Bi-yearly rant, hope you liked it..

An even greater thing is that we can use free will to avoid those blogs that cause us alarm - that we disagree with - that we feel are helpless, hopeless and narcissistic. We can let those we pity have their pitiful place in the blog world - there is room for everyone!

Dana- You got it! Free speech welcome here!

Wait - I don't understand. Did she say she didn't understand or that you didn't understand?

I like when you come to my blog and drop some wisdom on me—whether I want to hear it or not.

Yes, feel free to pull out the snarky comments at my blog (oh wait, that underwear one was true.) I like others to have their own opinion (and defend it) as well, maybe because I always do.

Well stated! Rant on!

I've seen a bit of this mutual admiration society junk going on too. It's frustrating for sure.

I am with you big guy! Say what the hell you want, or dont lke what you hear, get lost.. everyone is free to do or say what they please. I am all for live and let live.. Let them get mad.. you dont need them if they are small minded enough not to accept others vewpoint, crew them. They are too closeminded to matter, you know;)

It's funny. When someone disgarees with me, it does not bother me so much, perhaps because I worked in advertising for so long. In meetings, my team would have heated (but respectful) disagreements, and then afterwards, we would all go out to happy hour together as if nothing ever happened. I loved that: talking and being heard. Allowing everyone to express themselves and to be themselves.

Let the Rectums be heard !!!

I like this side of you.

Even if I don't agree with everyone's opinion, SOMETIMES I get something out of it.

If I ask, btw, I am prepared to take whatever it is you want to dish out. FYI.

DobB- "attaboy! and attagirl! is nice, but when people don't mean it...
CDB- You know as well as I do when I'm kiddin' around!
Jeff- I like nice comments, but prefer a fair, honest one..
Donna- Most of my visitors are above average in intelligence, and most have proven that- by what they write, and who they read...
UrbanV- In sales for 35 years, my tongue has more self inflicted bite marks than you could believe..
Hef- I ask for opinions, but sometimes get rectums!
Scarlet- I promised myself to try and limit my whining on blog to twicw a year...

I wish you would rant more than just bi-yearly! I love it!

And I enjoy all types of comments, whether I agree with them or not. I don't want sympathy, just to be heard, and if no one even read my blog, I wouldn't care.

However, if a troll found me (such as Dana has right now) I might think twice about a LOT of things!

I enjoy your honesty and your opinions. Please don't ever stop (not that you would! LOL)

buffalodick said...

Bina- Sometimes we all just have to "get it off our chests".. I just find people have their own problems and will only have "X" amount of time for mine..

Once in a while ya gotta dust off the ole sounding board. So There!!

buffalodick said...

G-man- Two ways to be honest: tactfully and brutally... depending on the audience, I can do one or the other! I prefer tact...

Gnightgirl said...

I once caused some very hard feelings when I noted to a blogger that I was offended by something she wrote, and explained why. I *thought* I was politely disagreeing, but YeGads! Huffing and puffing and and the post was taken down, and I got an angry email about ruining the day of her entire family.

I've had plenty of people disagree with what I write. I don't mind it; it makes me feel even more convicted to what I put out there, and courageous to state my opinions. The nasty-wasty "talk like a sailor" trolls, though, that scream censorship when I don't put their tedious profanity up...eh. It's my table, they can't sit with me. :-)

buffalodick said...

G-girl- I am( or have become!) a tolerant man.. I have read, and seen the good you have done- these are points in your favor as a decent human being. When you say something I might disagree with, I think back to your examples of being decent and caring- and know that whether you agree or not, you are a good person..

starbender said...

I like a good disagreement, as long as it doesn't get heated. The art of a disagreement is to try to sway the other party to your way of thinking. Ya know, cuz we all believe we are right.

If we all had the same beliefs, life would be boring.

Bender- Our differences are what make evolution work! I won my first debate in 7th grade, and I had to defend a point of view I wouldn't have, if I wasn't forced to look at it closely...

Gnightgirl said...

I can't remember any disagreeable comments you've ever left...but then I pretty much have to be hit in the head with an anvil to realize someone disagrees with, or is annoyed with me. I just don't get upset.

That said, you've left comments that have comforted me to no end; I won't go back and look for it, but one about the time if life I am currently in, caring for both children and parents at the same time. It was eye opening to realize that everyone hits this stage, and I think of your observation often, when I feel I'm overextended, but still need to go check on my mother, before heading home.

So. You upset her, you comfort me. It's a draw, yes?

buffalodick said...

Gnightgirl- I have indeed been between parents checking out, while raising kids into adulthood..Like you, I get peeved at people who have done neither.. they think things are so tough, and have never walked this path..We all get a different deal- but the cycle of Life spoken by people who have never- or will ever see it, causes a slow burn in me..

someone has problems with YOU? That sounds ridiculous!

Of course I agree a hundred percent. That is what blogging is for; to speak one's mind. Take it or dump it!

You go man!

buffalodick said...

Marmy- It was actually a small thing- but it set me off..Some women seem think only women blog, and it's Ok to throw all men into one catagory- which is as stupid as me saying "all women are the same" They are not!

buffalodick said...

Mona- I knew you would understand- that is why men and women alike appreciate your writings and imput!

MarmiteToasty said...

I know there are many many people that have been bitten by one group and then seem to lump everyone into one category....

And I most certainly at the same as most LOL....

Often those the do the lumping are a little twisted due to their own circumstances and not seeing the big picture..

Did you know, not all teenagers are hooligans :) lol

buffalodick said...

Marmy- I hated teenagers, until my sons became one! I then remembered what it was like...

I'm cautious about giving my opinions, because I can piss off everyone on the whole damn planet. And I really can't stand people who only want to hear their own opinions echoed. Since your title has the word "opinion" in it, let the visitor beware!
