Sunday Dinner, Nothing New Here...

Saturday night, I baked cookies. They were a peanut butter, oatmeal, dried cranberry, chocolate chip, slivered almond creation we call "The Easy Everything Cookie"! I've made this cookie(and variations) for years, and they have never failed to come out excellent- except for Saturday when I forgot one ingredient, an egg! They were still pretty good, but crunchy!
Sunday, I simply roasted about a 5lb. chicken, along with my stock sausage sage dressing in a separate pan. I didn't stuff the bird, because I wanted more dressing than that poor bird could have held... A side of steamed cauliflower rounded off a fairly good meal...
Later that night, I made a big batch of tuna fish salad for sandwiches during the week. While adding a last dab of mayo, to the batch(which I had put in a glass container) the glass container slipped out of my grip, hit the floor, and covered it with tempered glass shards and tuna fish salad... *%@!!*^##... don't ask for translation!

Well... if you hadn't forgotten the egg but gotten shells in it you'd still have had crunchy cookies.

Those cookies, as delicious as they look, seem like a desperate attempt to make something from everything.

OK.. you know Tuna Salad is a Summer dish BD! The evil Fall cooking gods made you drop that bowl!

Why don't you post some of your recipes? Those cookies look yummy and your sage dressing and chicken looks delicious as does everything you cook. I'm always interested in how someone else prepares something.

I noticed in the post below this one that you put bacon on the pork roast. I have never put bacon on a pork roast and it looks like a pretty good idea...what does that do for it? I will have to try it now! I usually cook mine in a crock pot on low all day so it falls apart with just a fork.

The cookies sound like a great congolmerate.

I can relate to the broken glass story. Last night Omniman accidentally broke one of the Italian glass lights hanging over our island...and the glass shards and $#@!s were a-flying.

Ake- More than one, kiddo!
sornie- They are like a granola bar, only sort of round and flat...
beth- I don't drain the meat, sautee the celery and onions in it, add half a stick of butter(melted) and pour the whole works over the dry stuffing. Not low cal, but not dry, either!
lulda- Made another batch Tuesday- I never give up!
romi- Bacon is the lazy mans' baste! Lay it on, and don't worry about a dry roast!
UrbanV- My wife knows I virtually never drop stuff like that. She did clean-up, and didn't call me an as*hole even once...

Lini- I was so pissed....1-1/2 hrs. of work, three seconds to destroy it- and make more work...

darngirl- We darn near did!
Mona- I just hate it when I put forth effort- and it results in nothing!
anndi- Something is in there... it loads and loads, then I get a pop-up that says "Program not responding" and I have to exit...

Roasted chicken, all tendy and juicy, with crispy skin, has got to be one of the best things that was ever created from a chicken. And with stuffing? Take the crunchy skin off, put some stuffing on it and roll it up and my God! My kids actually taught me this.

So, I wonder how the first roasted chicken came about. But I often wonder very strange things.

It could have been worse, couldn't it???????

buffalodick said...

Bina- Sounds good to me too, dear one!
queenie- No, not really! I was mad about the loss of good tuna salad!

Vodka Mom said...

I often want to make more stuffing than will fit in the bird. How do I make it just in a pan???? Am I stupid??
The cookies look great!!!

I think everybody hates that. But then again, its only practice that leads to perfecting a skill. Like a small child falls many a time before he gets to learn to walk. Its only in such 'falling' that we become integrated. So it has its merits in disguise!

I'm going to go crawl in a corner and cry. *sigh*

buffalodick said...

mona-That's fine for everyone else, but I don't screw up that much! I will never accept not doing it right the first time with grace and humble! I've told everyone I'm working on humble- and still failing!
Anndi- Send me an E-mail address or something- I don't want to lose a "keeper' LIKE YOU!

buffalodick said...

V-Mom- Sounds kinda hot, don't it? Make stuffing same way, give it a goose of butter or chix broth, and cook about 1-1/2 hrs next to the bird... cover with aluminium foil for an hour, uncover for next 30 min. and all will be well..

wow, this is a lot of food! i love the addition of cranberries to the cookies.
