Snowy Day Means Casserole Day..

Wife working late three days this week, so I try to have a meal ready to go when she gets home( as eating late doesn't agree with either of us!) I looked in the pantry and saw we had an inordinate amount of boxed macaroni-n-cheese on hand. I sometimes just use the pasta in these boxes, saving the powdered cheese sauce for other uses. I also had a big, fully cooked ham that has been waiting to be cut into, so I made a ham, mac and cheese casserole. Other items thrown in were sliced mushrooms and diced tomatoes. With the addition of a few spices, and hot sauce, it made for a warming supper on a wet snowy day...
Deer jerky production to start today, as I will be cutting it into strips and marinating part of today, and overnight! Plan to mix some ground venison and ground beef together to make a pepperoni snack everyone seems to like..

Even though I hate to even read the word "rectum" while looking at food, that does look tasty.

One question - What kind of cheese did you use?

I have to admit, besides the 'processed meatballs' I ate Sunday night, I bought Stoufer's Mac & Cheese last week and did not remember it tasting as good as it did. Maybe I need to stop cooking so many damn up scale foods, and come over to your house once in a while!

Chef- I can cook and eat Quails' eyeballs with the best of them, but good food is good food- wherever you find it! I really don't like Rachael Ray, but I remember her saying once; "I'm a cook, not a chef!" I learned to make State class award winning beef brisket from a black man from Oklahoma-best cook I ever met- worst businessman I ever saw! Has lost 2-3 restaurants/catering companies, while making some of the best BB-Q in this half of the state...

Doggybloggy's comment "easy mac the buff way" gave me a chuckle. Now I have to try and shake that mental image.

Good to know you made it back from the great outdoors safely. Happy Thanksgiving.
