Mini-Meme- Your Exit Poll... I Will Never Speak Of Politics Again!

I tried, by editorials, and recorded blog comments (to news agencies) to give my opinions on Local politics, and the shannigans that went on... I tried to refrain from making my blog a pulpit, preaching at others about what I do and believe in, that they should do.. I am a Jeffersonian American. He believed in stirring the pot and seeing what the people wanted! He also believed you should be educated in the candidates and policies before you exercise your vote. People wanted a change, and they got it. I am a bit more radical in what America has to do. When things are good, they don't need a third party, and when things go bad, they are to scared to consider one. Think for yourselves today, and here is the question:
1. What is the difference between the Democratic Party, and how they get it done, from the Republican Party?
2. Why would you not consider a Third Party?
I'm channelling Thomas Paine, Jefferson, and a drop of Sam Adams... Let's hear it!

Well I guess this meme is for the locals & I stand with an outsider view & outside considerations!

I can only say that party policies are not static. The Regan triple policy mix ( income tax cuts, free trade and aggressive deregulation)proved to be so successful that three presidents ( two republicans & one democrat) endorsed them & Reaganomics that successfully showed most sustained economic growth for three decades suddenly became obsolete for various reasons, the major of them being a parallel economic growth outside in other countries & availability of cheap labor from India & china which depressed the wages of Americans. so the inflation adjusted median income of average Americans did not come without a sense of insecurity, where individual worth became a roller coaster ( people left & took jobs) even when economy was a highway.

But Reagan era has come to an end with the fact that the tax payer reacts to the bill with greater regulation and bigger government.

So major changes in existing policies will have to be undertaken.Lets hope Obamanomics has an answer!

I'm not sure there really is much of a difference any longer. There was a time when I would have said the Republican's do it through less government, and the Democrats do it through more government, but that just isn't true any longer.

I think it's almost candidate specific these days rather than party specific.

2. Why would you not consider a Third Party?

I did! My vote was for a third party candidate!

Such the radical thinker I am, I wish we didn't have any parties. It stereotypes the canidate before people even give them a chance. I know realistically, it will never happen, but I'm not fond of them. I would agree with dana's definition of the parties--but again, these days, there doesn't seem to be a clear line drawn.

I am open to any parties. Just call me a party animal. :D

Mona- I know you would think about what I said, whether you are from here or there! It is profound that you have coined a name for our forward economic system that is months ahead of the oath of office!
dana- You are vindicated! My voice in the wilderness will not be one forever..
casdok- You would have fit right in here!
snowniece- you are still young, and not brainwashed- you, and your kind are the hope for America's rebirth as the bastion of Democracy..

I have been independent since day one - I vote for the person - this person who won was my vote - I did not vote for any Bush at any time - I did vote for Reagan - does that say enough?

buffalodick said...

L.D.- This was a backlash of a bunch of voters thinking changing from a Chevrolet to a Ford would make a major difference... both still stop and start! Food coming...
DogB- Yes it does.. but the next time somebody asks- give them an earful about being an Independent, and tell them why!

PROMISE?????????
(changed profile again, typical woman can't make my mind up)!!!!!!!!!

I am an independent because I dont believe either party has the right answer all the time - its always big government no matter who is governing that crock is a crock - and both parties raise taxes just 'read my lips' it all depends on who you want to help - if your friends own big business then you help them if your friends are single parents then you help them - if you like the military then you vote in that direction - if you like the environment then that affects your choices- I simply like a smooth running economy with out a war - idealistic, sure - impossible - I dont think so -

is that earful enough - I do have more?

When the Democrats are in power, the Economy booms. Then when you finally have something worth protecting, you vote in the conservative Republicans to protect it. Although they didn't do much for this cycle the last 8 years...:-)

and another reason where Reaganomics failed, was in the failure of successful redistribution. I guess with the new taxing the wealthy policy, this might come into gear , although it sounds socialistic , it is not.

the biggest question mark hovers on the policies of trade. It seems tat the new president will be caught between his own broad support for trade and a Democrat dominated congress that will howl for protectionism.

Lets hope he finds a solution, with his core economic theory of pragmatism, and figuring out what works. After all , he found that collecting campaign funds via internet was more viable tool & that might be a revolution in the way elections are fought.

I hope he has more revolutions for change up his sleeve.

The idea is not, who rules, it is How they rule!

Queenie- I like that one too!
DogB- I guess the mess on Wall St., bailing out lenders and borrowers alike is what really got me.. Until every last house in foreclosure is sold, the housing market(or values of houses!) will not turn around.. Housing starts historically indicated a growing economy. This last surge in housing starts was fueled by absurdly low interest rates, and the huge amounts of money lent to people that were not credit worthy. Nobody explained the value of a house can actually go down, but you still owe the money you borrowed! Turning our economy is going to take longer than most realize- trickle down can be a bad thing too....
G-man- George is the one that broke that pattern.. He will go down in the history books as one of the worst Presidents ever elected..
Mona- Free trade always worked for the USA until the rest of the world caught up (technology-wise!) and what we need to do now is balance our trade deficit to an acceptable degree.. We need to trade with the rest of world now, but it will not continue to be a one way street of goods headed for America.. Americans use the most gasoline and electricity in the world. We also generate the most scrap, and waste. We have to bring that all under control before it's too late

If the Democrats and the Republicans are anything like our Labour and Conservative parties - there's nothing to choose between them, they're all in it for what they can get out of it! :(

buffalodick said...

Ake- You have the same as we! They say different words, but the results are the same...

did you say NEVER? oh. never say never, dude.

buffalodick said...

VodkaM- I said it, and I mean it! I got sucked into commenting on way too many posts that were ignorant about how our political system works, what will change, and why or why not this would happen! I will not raise my blood pressure about this subject ever again.. The people who commented here have Opinions, thank God! Other posts got the Rectums...

UncleBuff, I love the way you compared the politics to the cars...very much how I feel too.

IMHO, there's not much inherent differences between the two main parties in this country, other than their historic constituents and traditions--which have changed over the years.

This is why I'm an independent voter. I generally lean way to the liberal left but I would honestly vote for anyone whom I felt would fit the bill. Plus, I've never been much of a "joiner."

That said, I would absolutely consider a third party. In actuality, most democratic countries have more than 2 parties. (And words "socialist" don't have such immensely negative and fundamentalist overtones!)

Vegan- An amazin' woman, by all accounts! You keepin' thinkin' all those thoughts, and I will always have your back! But probably sneakin' a piece of jerky.... sorry firebrand, just human you know..

The results are in, and some didn't answer the question! To the ones that did, I salute you! America and what it stands for is alive and well! Never quit or compromise your beliefs in Democracy! I simply hope the rest of you remember, or look up, in the History books how this great Nation was built...

It seems I am a day late on this one, but I say I am too 'independent' in my beliefs as well!

I consider this years winner the only candidate in a while that even might come close to what change really is, and we need...

The biggest point I have heard made is that today's Republicans in no way resemble the Republicans of a time as recent as the 1960s. Today's Democrats are more like the 60s Republicans and this year's election seemed to be the majority of Americans waking up to that fact. Maybe it was just the fact that with unemployment at a 14 year high and the economy in general in complete shambles that someone even tied to just the Republican name stood no real chance. Whatever the case, it seems that people did their research on where candidates stood on the issues and weren't overly swayed by televised campaign ads full of lies like they have chosen to believe in the past. Maybe it was a far more cynical group of the voting public this year. As far as a third party, in Minnesota the Independence party is gaining ground. Dean Barkley, who essentially knotted up the Coleman/Franken race has made that party a legitimate one. His numbers show that people still do vote with their conscience and there were plenty of precincts where it was a three-way tie between these candidates. They'll never be a dominant force but could stand to sway votes if elected.

I'm not afraid to admit that I'm not educated enough in politics to make an intelligent decision or comment. I have tried so hard to figure all this crap out, and I just can't do it. I didn't vote because of that very reason. I don't understand how millions of people can vote but the electorals (is that right?) make the decisions??

I just don't understand.
