A Thursday Night That Was More Fun Than It Should Have Been...

Coming home from work last night, I decided to stop in to a club I belong to- just to catch up on the news, and play a few games of Keno. I ended up volunteering for a steak dinner dance, where I'll be in charge of about 200 baked potatoes! I also am responsible for pizza for about 100 guys at our men's' meeting in 2 weeks. The friend that helps me with this stuff, says they are catching a burger at another hall in about an hour that serves food every Thursday. We invited ourselves along, just to see friends for awhile. The burger is about 1/2lb., with anything on it you want, and a bag of chips for $3.00. Really. The drinks are; pop is .75 and a shot & pop is $2.00. Really. Burger is great, but we were there for the friendship! Told jokes, updated current life activities- shot the breeze in general. Low key fun, at $10 bucks a couple.. Have good week-ends, everyone!

A 1/2 lb burger for $3.00??? WOW!

And how in the world do you handle making that many baked potatos! I mean, you can't put them all in the oven at one time, so how do you keep the ones warm that are already cooked?

How nice...to shoot the breeze AND have a great burger for that price!!
I'm wondering too how you handle all the spuds at the same time.......and where do you make the pizza???? You can volunteer here any time ya know...just saying.

Peace

bina- I will load the potatoes into those big throwaway aluminum pans, and cover with foil. Two big ovens should handle 100 at a whack.
The club has a few Nesco roasters which can work as "holding tanks" when they're almost done...
odat- The pizzas. I can do 8 in 15 minutes, let them set for 5min. while the next 8 go in.. lag time 10 min. I figure it will take the guys in the back of the line 8 minutes to get to the front, and the others should be done!

Isn't it the little things in life that make it so enjoyable?!

Sounds like fun and cheap too! The cheapest you can get hereabouts is a burger and a pint (lager) for £4.99 ($10) each.

dana- I have an expense account that allows me to go to lunch or dinner for free anywhere! Imagine what i prefer to do... I like common folk- it is where I found the values I care for!
Ake- These places are not exclusive, just regular folks having a little fun, with saving a buck or two in the process..

What kind of shot?

Black Velvet?...I'll take it!

Bar Burgers are the best, It must be the seasoning of the grill..

Have a great week-end Buff, and thanks for hanging out at ole G-Man's place...You are a very welcome addition to my list of friends...G

michelle- Kind of spur of the moment stuff is best!
DogB- I just had lettuce, mayo, sliced olives, and cheese...
marmy- Not even Marmite yet?
mona- I am starting to see some things a little differently again..
G-man- Well liquor, call liquor was .50 more... Hamburgers were made in a kitchen about the size of a walk-in closet!

Actually a baked potato sounds really good right now. I know what I'm having for din-din tonight. :)
