No Grandkids, So A Post About Our Ugly Step Child..

I've posted before about our current Airedale, Clara- But came across a photo that probably only a mother could love. A product of ATRA (Airedale rescue) we were really impressed with her, even though she had a rap sheet as long as your arm. With a big bark, and an trim build even at 80lbs.(Big for Breed!) she is our smoke alarm and burglar alarm combined. Clara is now the biggest cookie with fangs you could ever meet- a sweetie who has to greet you when you get up, come home from work, or any other time you leave her for more than 15 minutes! A big dog underfoot all the time can cause you some annoyance- I've described her as like having someone throwing a saw horse in front of you-all day long! She's seven now, and this breed usually doesn't live as long as smaller dogs. Got a lady in the neighborhood that walks her TWO Airedales every day! I've met her- a humourless woman, who seems more on a mission than enjoying her dogs...No animal I know of has the bond with Humans like dogs.... But God, can they crap alot...

Now that's a dog! My inlaws breed Pomeranians and Italian Greyhounds, so all I ever see are little anklebiters!

Clara (by the way was me nanna's name) has a face like a smacked arse LOL....

She is beautiful....... I, as would me youngest (14) Jacob, love a dog, but we have 2, no make that 3 from last week cos a stray now lives with us, cats and what with janet and mabel, I dont think a dog would want to live here, and then there is the scorpion and Brenda me chamelion and then brian the bearded lizard lol....and then 4 sons and 13 minded nippers...

Seriously though, I would dearly love a medium sized dog....sighhhh.... maybe oneday I will be known as the mad woman with the chickens and the shaggy dog LOL

I had an airdale in college....way too much dog, I also had a wiemeriener...even more way too much...the airdale tunneled out of everything and the wiemeriener jumped over .....my uncle worked for animal control so I adopted often, would try and make them manageble and then off they would go to a home.....

I can tell you love her even if she is a nuisance :)

What a sweet doggie!

I'll stick with little doggies though because their poop goes unnoticed in the yard.

Hi Clara!

She's lovely. A big mush. What's not to love?

Oh, right -- the crap.

Saw horse...that's classic. Yes, it can be an Olympic event trying to get from one end of my house to another...but soooo worth it!

Clara is a darling!

dana- She has found people are friends, not overlords...
leighann- She will play as rough as you want, and tall enough to pet without bending over!
marmy- Airedales have a strong "prey" instinct- best you don't ever have one....
casdok- This little angel snapped my left arm tendon(for real!) going after another dog! I forgave her, and she quit doing that....
DogB- How cool.. didn't know that about you! Both those breeds can be a load, as well you know!
Ake- I look past the obvious, and always find better...
preprop- we don't step in it- we trip over it...
finn- She didn't give kisses for 2 yrs., until she totally trusted us...
michelle- I know you love your animals too- I'm like a "dog whisperer" they love me- as I have about the same I.Q....

She looks like a big sweetie.
I can relate to the poop issue..my little Joey (RIP)was a hairy sheltie and caught poop in his tail all the time..of which yours truly had to clean up!

An 80lb dog. Monster.
I presume then that you have been feeding it leftovers?

buffalodick said...

Kayla- In my minds' eye, I can see that! That's love!
meredic- Dog begs(politely!), my wife chews me out, and I sure do feed goodies to her! I always say "Take it nice"....before I put my hand into the dragons' maw!

she's a cutie! Come on, you crap too.

My little cat likes to get all under my feet and nearly kill me; I can imagine what an 80-lb "cookie with fangs" (<--that made me laugh) would do to disrupt a trek through the house! Cute post.

She is so cute, and looks very happy!

jen- Yeah, but at least I hit the toilet...
gnightgirl- Our cat always can get out of the way, but our dog-never!
Tanya- I know you would run a dog rescue if you could!
beth- No one can look at a happy Airedale and not smile...
amy- She's got that, all right! Hope things are well with you..
lynda- She's pretty happy, but at night it is best to let "Sleeping dogs lie"...

Clara is a beautiful Airedale! I love our Butch, the Beagle, but Airedales are such neat, cool, BIIIGGGG dogs!

I agree about the bonding. It's a special thing...

They are worth the crap...

I think you are so right when you say they Bond so well with humans...

I have seen horses bond as well...

That is a very sweet Clara! ((( Hugs ))) to her !

AWWWW She's not ugly!!

With all my dogs you can imagine the poop, hubby does the back yard poop patrol not me LOL

Clara's a beauty. I can imagine having her around my house, her taking me for walks, her leaving me little "treasures" to clean up. Yeah, it's that last bit that convinced to me have a little dog.

buffalodick said...

Pink- You could ride her to work!
in_spired- You get hooked a breed, you tend to stick with it...
mona- Thanks! I have never been around horses, don't know much about them!
mel- You know what I'm talkin' about!
annie- I think our next dog would probably be a Welsh Terrier- a down-sized Airedale!

Small dog = small log!

However to qualify as a dog, it should at least have to be bigger than a cat.

Clara looks like quite the loveable moose.

Odat said...

Aww she looks sooooo sweet....and I can relate about dogs getting in your way...geeze..but it's all good.
Peace and thanks!
