Sunday Dinner-The Experimental Eat Well Day!

For many years now, Sunday dinner (and in the Midwest, dinner on Sunday means the midday meal, not at night-which we would call supper!) is the meal where I might try something new or special. Today, I will bake some rather large chicken breasts (size of Rodan!), that have been marinating for 12 hrs(red wine vinegar, olive oil, garlic, onion, salt, red pepper, oregano, basil, marjoram, and a bit of orange juice). A little bacon draped over these monsters should baste them well as they cook. Gnocchi! The potato-grain little dumpling thing from Italy will be the side. I am inventing a chicken gravy/ alfredo cheese sauce that should work nicely with the chix and the side! Fresh Italian round loaf bread, and a choc/walnut brownie from scratch should take care of any missing hunger points.
One day a week, do not eat out(Fast food or otherwise!) Fix something from "scratch" for the people you care about-and spend some time talking(not arguing!)about life over the meal. America has lost something to convenience- let's take it back!

We do the same on Sunday, but we do it at our evening meal (which we call dinner). It's a wonderful way to end the week.

You should also try the gnocchi with a gorganzola cream sauce. Outrageous!

Good call, I always used to sit down on a sunday for midday dinner when I lived with my parents but it's hard now I'm living with hubby as I am a vegi & he wont eat vegetables! They do say the family that eats together stays together.

Meagan-I really enjoy all the "veined" cheeses-yesterday bought my favorite which is Maytag Blue! It is USA produced and I would put it up against anything produced anywhere! Creamy, yet with the bang of a good bleu. Not quite as dry nor salty.

Aims- Make him a good rare steak at the same time you're eating your roots and berries-it's doable!
(Hope you're laughing, cause I'm kidding!).

Pink- I have had a job w/an expense acct for 30 yrs. On the front end of my career, we went out alot. Today, I mainly do lunches w/customers and could care less where we go. 20yrs ago, we would go somewhere nice, have drinks and kill 2+hrs. Today, no booze, "crunch lunch", back to work!
