Lamb Stew, Saturday up North, and Musings...

Earlier in the week I made lamb stew from some left over leg of lamb... This has to be our favorite stew, as the broth takes on such a wonderful, unique flavor. I took the meat off the bone, simmered the bone for stock. Then cut up some carrots, celery, red skinned potatoes, and onion. All put in a stove top pot, with some cream of mushroom soup, and poured stock over and simmered the lot until meat was tender.. Easy and good!
Saturday we went to an up north casino, and gave some of my Keno winnings back, but a beautiful day for a road trip! Michigan is so many stages of green this time of year, it amazes me.. On the way home, we stopped at one of our favorite roadhouses by Baldwin, MI- The Government Lake Inn. Great food, real friendly folks.. Saw a few deer, and a few wild turkeys, but not as many as expected..
Today, I'm baking some white bread, and probably make some kind of Alfredo pasta, with mushrooms..Tuesday is our Wedding Anniversary, but our celebration was Saturday! Hope you are all enjoying the better weather...

Had the toughest brisket at a wine tasting last night, and now I am trying to make up for it with a bird in the oven...I again wish this would appear in front of me!

Happy Anniversary!! Sounds like you had a lovely day! Soup sounds delicious as well, as does the upcoming nights dinner.

Just telling it like it is said...

do you like to eat the stew with mint jelly is what I want to know?

DogB- Kid got the last of the stew..
Marmy- Even I'm getting a little tired of all the pork!
Deb- Bread came out soft and flavorful- you could eat the crusts!
Ake- I enjoyed the stew more than the roast leg!
ChefE- I had beef brisket once at a restaurant chain called Smokey
Bones- thought I was eating beef jerky!
Donna- Day trips are about all we can do- we have an Airedale that gets lonely..
Darngirl- Mint jelly belongs on toast or a bagel...

Congratulations on your Wedding Anniversary. I hope you have many more. I can't imagine how wonderful it must be to be married to a good cook. The only thing that would come close, is being married to a plastic surgeon.

Happy Anniversary Buff...

The stew looked awesome!

Michigan is Paradise for about 5 months out of the year....

Belle- I wish my wife was a surgeon- more money!
G-man- Well, more like 3 months, but it can be great!

Happy Anniversary! Your lamb stew sounds so savory. don't you just love how handy cream of mushroom soup is?

Katharine- In these parts, I know very few recipes in church cookbooks that don't use it!
