Friday, Saturday, Sunday- Food And Happenings..

Friday night the request from my wife was a chef salad, our larders were a little low, but had enough stuff to make a pretty good one!
Saturday was a big chili cook-off- which I didn't participate in for the first time in at least 10 years! The reason was simple- we had a "must go to" wedding and reception.. The reception served what I refer to as Polish Wedding food- meatballs, baked ham, baked chicken, etc... We've all been there and done that! Wasn't bad..
Sunday, I made a pot roast... we've been having this more than I want, so I tried something new with it- a Southwestern flavored one! A beef roast(thick!), diced tomatoes(drained), sliced onion, garlic, taco seasonings, all wrapped tightly in leak-proof aluminum foil, I baked at 325F for 3 hrs. Came out OK (better than the photo!)..tender enough, but actually could have used more spice..Nice chunk left over for a couple of Mexican shredded beef soft tacos!

Ake- My two team mates have been at odds with each other for a while, part of this was to send them a message...

That salad looks so organized and cute in its presentation. Tell the truth, was that only for the photo?

Helene- Worked out fine.. my non participation worked perfectly.. Showed the people putting it on, and the friends who have been arguing- people like me can bring them back to why we do this..
DogB- shredded beef soft tacos will be the best meal of the two..
K- nice all around, many smiles..
Jen- I saw a salad once like this and made perfect sense..dressing went on salad, ingredients went on that..
Anna- usually make it savory, but got bored.. I'm funny that way..!
Angela- been in about fifty- almost like a bowling leauge!
Bina- Needed more heat! Love the hot stuff!
DarnGirl- If you can't.. who could? :)
Hood Chick- Shoot for the middle ground.. it's all you can do, dear..
Hit40- I'll cook, but my wife is funny about me marrying other good looking, younger chicks..:)
Dana- Look at it- anyone can do this one!
StarB- Juicy chicks is one of my missions... :)

Sounds good! I got a chuck roast for about $6 this weekend and made it tonight (dinner was already made) for lunches this week. The 20 y/o son was thrilled!

Hell....I might go get some for a snack right now!

A southern-flavored pot roast? I don't even remember what a regular one tastes like. I didn't grow up eating this kind of food.

I should jot all your recipes down so my American husband eats something other than Cuban food for a change, and your recipes always sound so good...even the leftovers!

Scarlet- Wait until you see my next creation- a Mexican Pizza!
