Sunday Dinner And A treat Not Done Lately...



I like fish. Almost any kind. Around here, fish has been scarce and expensive! I'm not Catholic, but I love Lent! Lent means cheaper, more plentiful fish to eat!
Today, we got some Tilapia, frozen fillets, but good stuff! I made a Parmesan, mayo, fresh lemon, spiced topping goo that was the whoop! Along with fresh asparagus, and fresh rolls- we were OK!
Later, I made home made caramel corn- sin with a crunch! Hope you all had good food sometime this week- we deserve it!

I would have to say that you were a little bit more than OK.....I think I will make some caramel corn - thanks for the idea..

DogB-We were geeked at the Parmesan/mayo/spiced sauce- this stuff was stupid good... The caramel corn was like goin' home...

I was never a fan of frozen fish but tilapia is great frozen.

I don't know how our prices compare, but being on the west coast, we're able to get a pretty good assortment of fresh fish.

Even though it was cool and rainy today, I dusted off the BBQ and grilled some top sirloin. It was like a brief glimpse at summer for us.

Doc- Me either, but it was a good deal!
Jeanne- Broil the fish for a short time before putting the sauce on, then take the sauce mixture(1/4 cup mayo, 1/4 cup grated Parmsean)other ingredients to taste..
Scarlett- They really did pair up well- in fact the sauce for the fish was very good on aspargus!
Jen- Me too!
CDB- Get ready for Fat Tuesday!
Jeff- We have 6-10 inches of snow on the ground yet- I can't wait to grill again..
DogB- Sharp eye! My kid did with his take out meal- I prefer the stalks anyway!
K- Good Luck- shouldn't be that bad...
Belle- I like the stuff that crawls around in the rocks, too!

I pretty much don't like any seafood, but Talipa? For some reason, I LOVE that stuff!!!!!

I know I do gourmet style home cooking most of the time, but I like coming over her and Dog's for some good looking comfort food, although you both do some fantastic fancy stuff too! I had scallops two weeks in a row and now ready for some fishing...soon...

Chef- He's kind of Felix, and I'm kind of Oscar- the odd couple of blog cooking! He's innovative, a bug on presentation, and execution! I wing it, but have pretty good instincts...

I'm not a HUGE fan of fish, but I have had Tilapia lately, myself. Good stuff !

When did this fish become so popular? When I was growing up I never heard of it...:D Perhaps a great hispanic influence has us purchasing more T? I need some gourmet history lessons on this one! :D

Heff- The fish is almost mild to a point of no flavor- but the sauce I made really worked..
Lulda- Fish farming in parts of the world shrip(Thailand)tilapia(Chile), etc. made fish more affordable, more plentiful, with a predictable, consistent flavor. People were interested in other cuisines-Japanese,Carribean, etc. which had a lot more seafood in them than the meat and potatoes we had grown up with. Health benefits from fish were touted- low calories, good oil, etc. A lot of things came together to make seafood more popular than ever!

Beth- The goo is similar to that hot artichoke dip that was popular 10-15 years ago- without the artichoke! Caramel corn is easy and delicious to make at home..

Anette- We once vacationed in the Florida Keys, and I got to eat fresh fish everyday! And that is exactly what I did!

Dam that looks good........ I LOVE fish..... except I aint to keen on it in chowder or soups..... but a proper chuck of fish, as long if its got a head on it, I cover it with a serviette so it dont watch me eating it LOL

Thats it, gonna have to make me famous fish pie tomorrow for dinner lol
