A Good Gift For Your Photography Fiend, And Retro Food.

I have said before, when I am sold on a product, I spread the word! A few years back, I decided to join the Digital Camera Age... Up until then, I had a Canon AE-1 with a fair amount of lenses. I gave that equipment away to my eldest, who learned on it and surpassed me in photography like I was standing still!
I never argue the benefits of one camera brand over the other, it's like debating who makes the best chili- which always leads to fist fights! I will, however, let you know about the best camera case in the world- made by Pelican.
Simply put, it is indestructible. It's waterproof. It floats. It "burps" itself during altitude changes. You could throw it off a 5 story building, and nothing in the case would be injured. It is guaranteed for life- period! The case comes in many sizes, to fit your need. Originally developed for sea faring types, photographers quickly found how perfect this case was for their valuable equipment! My case isn't big, but holds extra batteries, chip, battery recharger, with car adaptor, my wide angle and telescopic add on lenses, with adapter mount- and of course, the camera(Canon Power Shot A-80)! I think I paid about 50-60 bucks for mine, and gave my son one that was much bigger for $120.. Good investment, great gift!
My cooking lately has a retro feel to it.. sloppy joes, yesterday some Bisquick/sausage/cheese ball appetizers, and tuna melts(as shown) I am rediscovering the dishes we ate after WWII, when a little money was finally getting into the middle classes pockets.. Have good week-ends, everybody!

Tuna Melts are my kids favourite. I use a strong cheddar. You have a good one too Buff.

Belle- I have in the house, at all times, about 6-10 different cheeses- I must have been a rat in a former life!

Jen- I like the darn things! The case is the one you gotta have..
DogB- The case I have, measures about 4"x 8"x 10"!!!! You gotta have one!

When I want to shoot excellent pictures, I revert to my old Leica R4 with Kodak film. The quick and easy Kodak digital is good enough for most stuff. I also have a Canon AE1 with a 1000 mm lens that I use for such things as my kids' graduations (you ever try to see your kid from the middle of the basketball arena at giant University?). You're right, there's nothing like a good camera case.

Marjie- This one is the best, bar none!

I thought this was gonna be a post about food !

Rockin' camera case, though.

I always give EXTRA points to anything that burps !

Heff- I try not to be 100% food posts...Camera case can be used as a hand gun case, depending how you cut the foam rubber..

You just reminded me...not to self...sloppy joes on beef Sunday...my photos actually are improving, but I have diarrhea of the photo lens when I post, lol, I take so many, I have to cut back and only post 10 of the 25 I took, lol

Hey I found this post and though you or the readers would get a kick out of, since I am known for my wild combination's I found a site with 'Spam Musubi', a new twist on spam!

buffalodick said...

Chef- Doing all that to Spam is like putting a tuxedo on a pig!

Your food always looks so tasty. I wonder if buying a Canon Powershot would do that for mine?

Pelican cases are unsurpassed. I have used them for years. They really are that good!

buffalodick said...

Jeanne-I like Canon cameras, but there are Canon models with superior features that have come out since I bought mine!
Art- Anyone that has one would say the same thing- well built, well designed!

omg--I adore the bisquick / sausage / cheese balls. That was, honestly, the first recipe I ever followed, I think I was around 9 years old and I ate almost all of them and got sick!!
(because my sister wouldn't help me wash the dishes so I didn't want her to have any!)
