Sunday, Today A Lay Around Day.....

Yesterday was the Grand Haven Chili Cook-off, and we didn't win, place, or show... A good enough batch, but they made it clear there would be some new judges, which is their way of saying there would be new winners! It was a beautiful day on the channel between Spring Lake and Lake Michigan, not much wind and sunny. It is always a good time, and quite a crowd showed up. As usual, our 3-1/2 gallons of meaty chili was gone- with quite a few compliments... Today, I'm getting a Papa Murphys bake it yourself pizza, because I may need a dozen of them next month for our mens meeting at the club- if the price is right, and they are good! These chili cook offs are fun, but the lugging, cooking, and clean-up can get old-like me!

What a shame you didn't even get placed - how very dare they! ;)

Sometimes just playing the game is reward enough - especially when spring finally decides to show.

I could do with a jacket spud with a huge dollop of your chilli on top...... if only cos these painkillers tend to 'block one up' LMFAO.......... :)

This has been bought to you via a drug induced state whilst I can type before the downward spiral LOL....

Fanks for your kind thoughts Buffalo, if only you realised how very welcome they have been :)....

pinkie in deed LOL

DogB-Our friends who ran the spam cook-off won! Dragon spit, our usual competition, took second... I thought ours cooked a little too long- the chunked meat was a little too soft...
Ake- Still, a glorious day by Lake Michigan...
dana- I'm usually more "up" for cook-offs, but it was more work than I was looking for..
marmy- Enjoy the drugs... I could use some right now myself!
Rog- I've been about as useless as I could manage today...

I do like me some good chili but I must say that I'm glad "chili weather" is OVER!

What did you think of the pizza? I didn't care for Papa Murphy's.

Who DOESN'T like chilli? And ya know, I've never had a Papa Murphy's pizza. Are they really that good? I guess I'll have to try it one day.

I enjoy those Papa Murphy pizzas. What did you think of it?

beth- I have made better, and I tasted the top two- they won, fair and square...
odat- Papa Murphys! Never had theirs, but we liked the crust and the sauce! Had to drain a bit of grease off, but really, not too bad!
mona- Dominos' started in Michigan, where I live- God, I wish I could make you a pizza...
leighann- added pepperoni and parmesean- I've had worse!
tanya- I love your loyalty, but I could have done better!
bina- It wasn't bad... Of course, once the manager knew I knew her sister and brother-in-law, things went pretty good!
Lynda- On a scale of 1-10, I would give it a strong 7-1/2.. Not bad at all!

Hi Buffalo!
I can't imagine 31/2 GALLONS of chili. I'll bet it was quite "windy" later on....Ha

Sorry the judging didn't go your way, but it sounds like the chili was well received by the participants anyway.

R.L.L.- I never bought a heat and eat pizza, but it really wasn't too bad at all!
kayla- How good to hear from you! 3-4 gallons is pretty easy, but 6 or 7 gets a little tricky!
jeff- Can't win'em all.. At least friends took 1st & 2nd!
