Mini-Meme- About Being Alone- About Being With People..

Like many of you, I have felt alone in a crowded room- at a party, a bustling restaurant, a store that was packed. Other times, when we are actually alone, all by ourselves- we do not feel lonely at all! Humans, by nature, are animals that need to belong to a tribe, family, organization, or a group of like-minded humans. There is a part of us that needs to belong... Technology has allowed alot of people that are shy or nervous around others, to withdraw further and still function in society, dealing with it by E-mails, computers, or fax machines. Who are we?
Mini-Meme today:
1. What do you like about people?
2. What bothers you most about people?
I'd better say what I think here..
1. I like that they are different from me in so many ways, yet in other ways the same. No one has the same skills and talents, and I am always in awe of people who can do things I cannot.
2. Selfishness, fear, stubborn ingnorance, and hate. Fortunately, all of these can be cured with proper treatment!

What I like about people is the mystery in them. I like to look at the outoside and imagine the inside, the inner life that exists there.

What bothers me most about people is insensitivity to others, selfishness, rudeness, ungraciousness, greediness . . . oh the list could go on and on in this way. I tend to avoid those people when I figure them out but I still wonder about their inner lives.

1. What do you like about people?

Hmmmm ... I like that people are a compilation of their life experiences, that no two are exactly the same no matter how similar they might be.

2. What bothers you most about people?

That they are not always honest and that they are not always straightforward with their agenda. There is nothing that disturbs me more than thinking I *know* where a person is coming from only to find out they've not been honest with their intensions.

What I like about people is the unexpected...especially a chance conversation with a stranger while waiting in line to buy coffee. You just never know when a stranger will touch your life..

What I don't like about people is self involvement and lack of awareness. I have no tolerance for people that think they are the center of the universe...

But enough about me...let's talk about you. What do you think about me...? :)

What I like about people depends on whether or not they're annoying me.

What I don't like about people is that they annoy me.

How was that? :)

annie- Key word: "Figure them out"- You are truly an observer of humankind! I do this also, and am proud of the empathy I feel when trying to sort out what they mean when they speak..
dana- I have suffered many attacks by people who I offered trust to- yesterday being the latest.. I don't think people know what they give up, when they give up their integrity and betray trust...
michelle ann- You just said something I say alot- "center of the universe".. self-serving people, once recognized can be used to your advantage- and you won't even feel guilty!
What do I think about you? I think you're kind of quiet and shy, but really like to jump up and yell once in awhile.. I sense you think about what you say before you say it.. and I think you'd like to say more than you do.. You remind me of a number of people I have met in my life- all of which I really like!

buffalodick said...

leighann- Believe it or not, I like people! Believe it or not, I am happy to be a loner... I have and do belong to organizations, have many friends and acquaintances, but am quite happy to be alone sometimes. I used to run the party, now I tend to skip the party..
The best analogy I can give is: My father did not like blacks, Democrats, Jews, or Catholics- yet when he met them one on one, he liked everyone he ever met ! Always look for the good- it's in there somewhere...

My thoughts exactly, but I really don't like being in a crow. I tried to avoid them at all costs, which might explain my diversion to malls. YUK!

1. What do I like about people. All people? Some people? People I like???

Let's see....humor. Yea, I like the humor in people, and compassion, understanding, accepting, things like that like.

2. What bothers me. That's easy, I cannot stand rude, mean, lazy, lying, judgemental people. Who needs them anyway! LOL

Leighann said...

Buff that's really good advice, I'm just afraid I don't know how to see good anymore.

Not much really. But if you're funny, that's a start.

2. What bothers you most about people?
selfishness, greed, ignorance...all of which i have a bit of too.

1. What do you like about people?

I like the uniqueness of people. The fact that even identical twins have some differences.

2. What bothers you most about people?

I can't abide rudeness and cruelty.

What do i like about people?
I am just in awe about the human race, how remarkable the little things are, like being able to hear, see, feel, speak etc. I also love peoples imaginations.

What i dont like is how people take these things for granted and then are prejudice to those who are less able.

bina- Humour is a great sign of intelligence, and a person who feels emotions! I think we'll all agree on your dislikes!
leighann- Look... listen... small signs wil emerge from a person- giving you hints why they are upset or unpleasant. 90% of the ass chewings I ever got is because the person was mad- not at me, but I was there when they were pissed!
Tanya- "Funny" shows a side of you that people always feel good about! The stuff you don't like is well supported by me...
Ake- Unique is what I like too! Cruel people have been my most difficult people to understand...
casdok- Make sure you take time to value yourself- you need this, dear..

1. I like people that are always themselves, no matter what social setting they're in. I like honesty and sincerity in people.

2. What bothers me most about people is just the opposite of what I like in other people...dishonesty, insincerity, and attempting to be something/someone they're not.

What I like in people.......... is their strength under extreme circumstances in life.....I love it when people see the funny side in all situations cos there is always something to smile and laff about no matter what........I love people that have compassion and empathy and do not judge by the cover.... I could go on and on....

What I dislike in people.... laziness and those that think the world and others owe them a living......cruelty to anyone be it people or animals....I HATE with a passion those that put on a false face, me, well, Im just me in all situations and when I speak to anyone, be they posh upper class or doctors or just run of the mill hardworking people, tramps included, I treat all with the same respect......I HATE with a purple passion those that are not honest with me....... be honest and I will be a lifetime friend, lie and I will drop you like a stone..... and again I could go on and on.....

Im quite a hard tough person I think.... but scratch me surface and you will find soft sweet toffee LMFAO.....

Rog- Like said earlier, a sense of humor is a sign of intelligence- but also a sigh of a person who realizes the benefit of a good laugh..
in_spired- I have been taken to task so many times in my career for saying the truth instead of just shutting up.. My list of backstabbers isn't that long, but I know every name on the list by heart..
Marmie- I read once "Never serve under a commander who has never lost- he has never experienced what he could lose.."

Yes, Man is a social animal who can be neither totally dependent nor independent, but survives on interdependence.
I feel that there is a vast difference between aloneness & loneliness.Aloneness is so welcome because it is the ultimate and so absolutely free and fully conscious, whereas in loneliness you miss the other, the other being any excuse in which one seeks to drown one's consciousness, someone or something that takes you away from self remembrance. Loneliness is a negative state where the other is missed, while in Aloneness the other is no longer needed and one is enough unto oneself and so 'full' and overflowing, that one can keep poring oneself to the whole existence & still be overflowing. A lonely person on the other hand is like a beggar with an empty bowl, one in need...

Yikes. That is not what I was about to say here...

Ok let me try this:

1. What I like about people: Everything that in see in them.I love to explore the potential of human beings and the fact that they are able to translate their potentialities into actualities. Their ability to translate the subtleties of mind into concrete. Each Human is unique & each has an equal potential which is already in motion or needs to be set in motion.

What bothers me about people :In my country, there are a not of bothersome people as you have already read about on my blog. Yet ,I do not categorize people on the basis of 'good' or 'bad'. Good & bad are such loaded values. I feel that people only act foolish or wise.

1) I like the fact that they have the ability to come together in a crisis...and help one another (as evidenced after 9/11)
2) What I don't like is that they forgot so soon!

DogB- And like what you just said...
marmy- Losing is more of a learning experience on how to win than winning is...
mona- I so look forward to your answers! You have clearly given this subject alot of thought, long befroe I brought it up. Thank-you for your wisdom, and great comments!
odat- I believe a part of human nature is to rescue someone you don't even know, or like- a conditioned response from when we were trying to survive as a species.. Your dislike is what happens after the crisis is over, and everyone goes back to "me first"... I understand what you're saying!

1. They're all so different
2. They generally have a hard time dealing with other peoples' differences. (I think it's biologically based)

1. I like honesty whether it's PC or not. Have an opion and stand up for it. If you're proven wrong admit it.

2. People who value their position in life by how many people they've squashed to get there.

buffalodick said...

UrbanV- I have to say I feel love and hate are both taught, not inherited.. Biologically we do inherit some traits that may or may not be desirable- with that, I agree..
jeff- Successful people aren't successes, until they learn it's not all about the money...

Hey UncleBuff :)

1. What do you like about people?

That as perfect strangers, we have the ability to care for each other and reaching out to someone without even knowing their name.

2. What bothers you most about people?

I can deal with a lot when it comes to people, but people who absolutely refuse to attempt to sympathize with someone's situation (good or bad)really bother me.

2. Rude. Mean. Hateful.

Snowniece- You such a kind lady! I think you like alot more about people than that! I also think you have a bit more to say on what you don't like, too!
dallas- Welcome to the blog! Humor does "warm" you to people a little quicker... Your dislikes are mine too...

Have to concur with you--ignorance, fear and hate can manifest themselves in terrible ways.

But I love learning from people and teaching--I mean, beyond a work setting--I continue to learn something everyday from other people. Its pretty amazing.

Great post, Buffalo!

And I'd have to agree with YOU on both questions.....

I really enjoy the "differences" of people, and being able to see things through their eyes!

And FEAR is one of the things that bothers me about human nature.

I'm quite often alone...but never feel lonely.

Later, buddy!
