Tagged For The First Time-By Kate!

I have never been "tagged" so I thought I should go along with this. Facts about me you probably don't know-
1. Until 7 years ago, when I switched jobs- I had never used a computer.
2. The last movie theater I was in was probably 8 yrs ago- I rent them and watch them at home.
3. I still have my motorcycle permit renewed every drivers license renewal- even though I haven't been on one in 25 yrs!
4. The only country I've ever been in other than USA is Canada.
5. I am the most left- handed person you will ever know. Bat, golf, bowl, eat, write, etc. All large and small motor skills are with left side. I had to learn to kick right-footed when I had an ingrown toenail removed from left foot in 4th grade...
6. Had cataract surgery(genetic curse of family!) in my 40's'. Have permanent corrective lenses in both eyes.
7. Lost appendix at 35. Unusual age to lose appendix-until I found out my father(other side of genetic curse!) tols me that was the exact age he had his removed...
8. Cannot play a musical instrument, or sing very well-but love music!

Well that explains a lot....lol just kidding...I have to wear reading glassed now and I feel my eyes getting weaker... so what are permanent lenses?

They take a bunch of laser measurements, make a pair of contact lenses, slit and remove cataract lenses, slide in the new ones-and 2 weeks later 20/20! Freakin' miracle, it was!

Christo Gonzales said...

wow that is a miracle, so it is different than laser surgery or the same thing?

Not laser-1 stitch, out with damaged lens, in with new. Understand, when I had the surgery, I couldn't drive at night, and was damn near blind. I didn't really have a choice!

well thank god for little miracles and this is certainly in that category.

You haven't been in a theater in 8 years? Get OUT!!! Wow. That's amazing. I love going to the theater. I belong to a movie rental program but still I see 2-3 movies a month in the theater. Of course, that leaves me with not as much left to rent!

ok lefty... I had lasik eye surgery and love it! It is like a miracle! I cant wait for them to perfect the one for farsidedness... I am on the verge of needing reading glasses and HATE that thought!

Thanks for playing along! You are supposed to tag 8 people now too! lol

oh man, it sounds totally gross, but I would love to have permanent lenses....to wake up and be able to see...that would be heaven in my book. I am blind.

yay for leftys!!

Cataract surgery is much, MUCH different than lasik. Cataracts are just a hardening of your lenses where you are no longer able to focus and everything looks cloudy. And early cataracts are often genetic. Make sure your kids ALWAYS wear sunglasses. They help heed development of cataracts. :) Everyone eventually gets them, just some people get them earlier than others.

did you ever find your appendix?

Great to read more about you. It's amazing what they can do with eyes - MWM had a detached retina so they shoved a piece of plastic in there to mend it!

Steph- I've found that there isn't a movie I would want to see that isn't out on DVD in less than 6 months max!
Kate- I don't if I would want permanent lenses in my eyes if I would have had a choice(I didn't!) I don't have the heart to tag 8 people...
Beth- Read what I wrote to Kate!
Snowniece- Mine came on so fast, in May I was remarking how hazy it was outside, by July no night driving, and by Sept. had surgery.
Pink- Found appendix, a good recipe, and ate it with a fine
Chiani.....
Akelamalu- It really was amazing! Before surgery, everyone looked great like they were an air- brushed photo. After surgery I could see things I didn't want to see!

Hmm. I am a lefty who's more ambidextrous than anything. I've never met a lefty who is completely lefty (mostly because of the way the world works). How'd that happen?

Finn- I was left handed before it was cool. They would try to actually change you in school to write right handed! Being a really stubborn little sh*t, it didn't work! I was always different, but never once considered it a handicap.

BUF! here even children have appendicitus!

I can sympathize with your exteme left-handedness. My wife is the same way ... I think that if her right-hand just fell off one day, she wouldn't even notice.

buffalodick said...

TanyaK- You are special-even I can't explain it....
Mona- I don't think anybody has an exclusive on that one!
Paul-
Have your wife contact me someday(nothing bad or evil!) She probably knows more than you think about being a superior being!

Akelamalu said...

I can understand why you'd want the surgery but some things (people - me) look better airbrushed!
PS I have lots of (kack)left-handed friends and family. :)

buffalodick said...

Akelamalu- We call them "Southpaws" or wrong-handed, or the only people in their right mind(left brain controls right side of body and vesa-versa!)

Fun to learn more about you. I love the motorcycle fact the most...It's symbolic, I think--and is so tied in to who you are. Liberating to know you can take off on a Harley any time, right?

buffalodick said...

UrbanV- Probably more like a dirt bike- Quit playing on one after my last son was born, but I thought it a good idea to keep up my certification- you never know.....

They use to have a left handed store in San Francisco. I always thought it was cool, even though I am right handed.
