Yestedays' Wanderings- Private Clubs(Not Golf!)

Friends of ours invited us to go to a private club(technically a "Benevolent Society") known in this area as Polish Halls, for their Burger Nite. A 1/2lb burger with anything you could imagine on it, with a side of Kapusta(kind of a sweet, shredded cabbage, cooked) for three bucks. Girls less than 12 yrs old as waitresses taking your order. Bar drinks so cheap, it's silly! I got there before anyone else in our party, and got something to drink. When I heard the bartenters' voice , I knew I had met her before. It was Sue, a woman my age who 20yrs ago was one of the premier bartenders in Grand Rapids! A delightful person I had not seen in at least 10yrs. We did a little catching up and it was a pleasure to run into her after all those years! These places are working folk/retiree hangouts, where everyone behaves and can relax. Good to know there are still friendly places to go and enjoy without pretentious people and high prices!

Isn't it great to go places where you know people and feel at home? I miss those places!

DutchBabe- Get your mind out of the gutter! These were cute little kids helping their parents-all family friendly, believe me!
Jen- It drives my wife nuts! Wherever we go, I know somebody and if I don't, they know me before the night's over !

Is it a social club (i.e., Knights of Columbus) or a union hall? Either way, I know what you mean.

I must admit, when I read that first line, I was thinking of an entirely different kind of club. Sort of along the lines of what Dutchy was thinking. What a pair we are...

Snow- It always reminds me how many people we know but lose touch with..
Finn- Ihave alot of kinks in my hose, but little kids aren't one of them!
Mona- Their Mom was cooking, and they were helping on their own for tips(looked like they were cleaning up on them too)!
Akelamalu- My Dad was the same way. Sold cars for 40yrs for same dealership, and if you ever had bought a Buick, one was probably from my Dad...
Pink- Not you too!
