Why I Have Been Missing....

I was admitted to the hospital Wed. for a blood transfusion- I get a bit anemic once in a while, and ended up stuck there for five days... Endoscopy, Ultra sound test and transfusions... Supposed to be for a day and a half! I first thing I did when I got home was build an altar in front of my spice storage drawer, and worshipped... They had put me on a liquids only for two days, and a low salt, bland diet for the rest of the stay. It was the worst food I have ever had in a hospital! The people were great, but the 24hr. a day activity in one of these places makes sleep difficult.
Anyway, on the mend now... I always go into the hospital saying "Woe is me", but after seeing some of the patients problems, I leave feeling fortunate.

Good to have you back!!!!!

Hospitals are the worse. Just when you are asleep in bangs the janitor, a nurse for blood pressure, a resident who needs to get in his face time, ..... YOU KNOW!!!

And clean??? NO. Filthy place.

Just wait for the bills.......... they love to try to get you to pay for things that you do not owe. And you are trying to recover with the stress of the mail.

Sorry :-( I am sure that this did not calm you down. I just feel your pain.

Oh my, I'm sorry to hear this. Hope you're on the mend. Eat your leafy greens and lots of beans--filled with iron!

And regarding my cookbook, I'd be glad to sign yours! We'll figure something out.

Take extra good care of yourself, Buff.

Poor BD! I know where you are coming from. My appendix ruptured for quite a while before I went to the hospital in 1985. I spent 11 days there on no food, or a bland diet.

The thing I remember about that was how when you can't eat, you realize THAT EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL AND SHOW ON TELEVISION HAS FOOD ON IT!!!!

Paper plate commercials, sitcoms, whatever. They were all taunting me with food!

Glad you're out and safe at home where you can cuddle with your spices and herbs;)

I'm glad your back! I knew something must have happened. We all miss a day or two of posting, but when it's more, usually something is wrong. Hope You recover soon, and if you get bored, there is PLENTY of music at my place... hahahaaa!
Take care hon!

40- I will never take good food for granted again!
DogB- Glad to be back!
UrbanV- I've got to start taking better care of me, or there won't be a "me"!
Chris- You nailed it! Off liquids, I got broth and Jell-o and was grateful! If I could have gotten The Food Channel on TV, I would have stormed the kitchen for food!
StarB- Thanks! Easy for a bit- have to rest up from the hospital!
Finn- Thanks! I will, for once...

Welcome back; I missed you. My second daughter is in nursing school and tries to yell at me. Then she rediscovers the fact that my blood pressure is near-comatose, and has to shut up.

Glad you're better. When I had meningitis, I was in there for two weeks and my saving grace was the Food Network. I didn't have cable at home, so every minute I was awake and not seething in pain, was focused on that. Ha! I called it my therapy.

I was in the hospital once for 11 days for a stomach resection. After 4 days of eating NOTHING, A lowly Red Popsicle tasted better than any steak that I ever had...
Get well brother.....Galen

SO TRUE!!! I have told him to call me when he gets in trouble. I know it will happen.

Unknown said...

Oh No!!!! Dang Buff, that is awful! FIVE days? They rarely keep anyone in the hospital that long anymore so you must have been in bad shape. I'm so sorry!!!!!

Glad you are out and on the mend.
