Spaghetti And Meatballs- Nothing Special Today..

I still have not gotten back into the swing of things cooking. Last night I worked the kitchen for a party at our club- late night, last night! I hadn't been down there much, and had alot of catching up with old friends. The band was good, the crowd was fair, and the food was grill stuff- burgers, brats, hot dogs, onion rings, and fries. A fun night, considering how late alot of us stayed!
Today, as the headline shows, we are having the classic spaghetti and meat balls. Simmer some meatballs in a good home made red sauce, (add some sliced mushrooms, if you like!) spoon over pasta, sprinkle with Parmesan- and you're eating in no time! Sunday is usually my day to cook a little fancier than normal- but not today! Sorry about a less than exciting photo- those are the left-overs going out the door with my son... I'm planning on taking a few days off around Labor day- plan to stay at our place up north and take day trips out of there as a base! Remember to take pictures, Buf!

Reminds me of that song..

On top of ole smokie
all covered in cheese..
I lost me poor meatball
when somebody sneezed..
It rolled off the table
and onto the floor..
And then my poor meatball
rolled out of the door..

:) you have the most loveliest of breaks.....

oh and Buff..... I miss you to...... and take lots of photos...

Always trying to perfect the spaghetti sauce recipe. Yours looks really good! Today was a pot roast kind of day with carrots and potatoes and gravy with homemade cheese biscuits and an apple cake for dessert. I love to cook.

Queenie- I'm kinda burned out- need to get away for a change of scenery..
dogB- Had a potluck seafood lunch friday, with a good selection.. I would eat fish just about anytime but breakfast..
marmy- We sang that song over here too! Thanks for the well wishes..
tenter- Our economy has made inexpensive pasta meals very important, but I eat it 'cause I like it!
R.L.L.- We were just talking today how tupperware must be going broke- with all the storage choices we now have!
deb- Your post on it influenced me!
romy- I once won a 3rd prize in a city wide cooking contest. Guess what the prize was? A cooking class! It was a great 3 hr. seminar on pizza and sauces- learned to make a killer sauce! I had alot of smart remarks for that bus picture, but decided to keep it "clean'"....

you need to try a big plate of fried catfish, with buttery grits and easy eggs....a breakfast you will want again and again...

and reading through the comments--I have to concur with Doggy. Fish and Grits is one of my all time favorite breakfasts! (hard to find grits in Michigan though...)

I like meatballs too. Today I'm making Kleftico (Lamb shanks with red onion, garlic, tomatoes, red wine) cooked very, very slowly until the meat is falling off the bone.

You have a good rest and come back refreshed Buff. :)

G-man, I am looking forward to the new coach! Hope a quarterback "steps up" quickly..
DogB- Had catfish Friday, and it is probably mild enough for breakfast! May try grits again someday...
tav- You know it! That's a Southern thing..
mona- Meatballs are very versatile, many different sauces can be used!
Ake- Love lamb shanks slow cooked- tend to make an exceptional gravy with the renderings...

When I was growing up...this was my favorite meal and it was always served with a chilled glass of milk. YUM! Your looks delicious.

We always have some red sauce (gravy, if you ask my wife) in the freezer for just such an occasion.

michelle- I'm glad you had fond memories of these things- Imagine living and growing up with nothing like this- good solid food, but with no spices... The Dutch in this part of the world ate the blandest food you could imagine!
Tanya- I love brats! Coated in Polish mustard...
Jeff- My wife gave up questioning my cooking long ago- she just eats the heck out of it!
