Pot Roast in August... Who'da Thunk...

After the BB-Q Cook-off, I seem to lose all momentum for cooking...imagine that! I'm retyping an entire post as something wiped me clean when going to post it...Bastards! I type slow, and I hate doing anything that requires effort twice...
Pot Roast in August- odd, but it sounded good to me today! I have evolved a no fail recipe which someday, I hope you'll try!
1 Chuck roast 2-1/2 to 4 lbs.
1 can of cream of mushroom soup
1 packet of brown dry gravy mix
salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder- to your taste
Wrap completely in aluminum foil- no leaks allowed!
Roast in oven at 300F for 3-1/2 hrs., or slow cooker on low for 8hrs.
I used the crock pot, to avoid heating up the house in August! You will be rewarded with a moist, tender pot roast, in a ready to serve gravy.
Car issues today... buying company car, and getting BOB (Big Old Buick) a checkup! The Buick is a 1995 Roadmaster worth keeping... It has an LZ 350 fuel injected V-8, with dual exausts... Still can haul butt, and for an old girl, still looks pretty good! Enjoy your week-ends!

Pot roast anytime! My mom would take the leftovers, break up the meat into smaller pieces and make a stroganoff sauce over egg noddles...yum!

Pot roast sounds good. Even though you gave the recipe..I know that I'd fuck it up.

I love and hate those old crs that you just can't give up. THEY HAVE PERSONALITY!

I made that once! I roasted a whole lamb's leg for a feast that way...wrapped in a foil!

With Indian Roast 'masalas' of course!

I think you get some of them by the name of SHAAN masalas in the US too! :)

Simple is the key with this one, and if you enjoy beef, it will make you smile..
DogB- Hope to add a cooked, ready to serve picture when it's done! Prettier, by far!
michelle- It was a toss up amongst brown rice, egg noodles, or red skin potatoes! Potatoes won...
tenter- As they said in the Mad Max movies- last of the V-8s....
bina- Pot roast and a cruise in a BigDamnCar is in your future!
Mona- I want your lamb! Trade you pot roast, and throw in what ever else you want!
Tanya- This car has been driven 300 miles in the last year! I'm not the reason for the high price of oil! Never blaspheme the Roadmonster- it's just a great old car that helps me recall fond memories....

i did a shoulder roast in my slow cooker yesterday with a spicy rub for pulled pork today - much cooler than standing over a smoker or heating up the oven - I know you are probably shuddering you ol' BBQ smoke master.

I love me some roast.

You know my mom makes the best roast and all she does is lay down some sliced onions in the bottom of a crock pot, throws in some diced taters, and plops a rump roast on top, with a little salt and pep. She cooks that sucker all day long and voila!

I substitute beer for the water and it's delightful too.

This looks and sounds great! I usually good mine on the stove top in a heavy pan. I'll have to give this one a try.. Love the gravy idea!

jen- I think you might be thinking of a pressure cooker- crock pots are the hippie way to cook, low energy costs and lazy!
marmy- The Brits love Bully Beef! This stuff comes out tender as all get out- and tasty!
melody- As I tell people all the time, never judge the method, judge the results! They may know something you haven't learned yet... P.S.- Don't think I haven't done what you did- and with great results!
morgy- You will be The Mom someday- for a generation that must know what you are learning- now! Learn, and know these things- you must pass this along to them on too, someday..
melody- You have a great name! My Dutch oven is a world class piece of cooking equipment- but aluminium wasn't invented yet! I am a tradition-laden cook, but good food should never disregard technology....Bet you can cook like mad!
