Chili Cook-off Cottage Bar 2007...

Well, another Cookoff goes into the books- with about the same results as last time! We made out usual batch, sold out in 15 min. and didn't place-again. It was a beautiful Fall kind of day, starting overcast, but clearing later. The word was the attendance was the best ever, and Gildas' Club will get a nice check from this. I didn't feel that great, and it made for a long day. Am I getting to old for this stuff? Lots of old friends, good chili and good times. We do have an odd dilemma with this cook-off. The board of Health insists on a tent or an awning, and the fire department won't let us cook under the awning! The cute redhead is Buffalo Brother Mikes' eldest child- a good kid! The guy, girl and big guy is the Team Dragon Spit- which made a great batch and finished 2nd. The two guys in red aprons are 5th Street Hall Team- nice guys! We were disapointed in the results, but will be back next year!

That's the spirit! Did you have fun? It looked like it may have been "chilly" there.
Sorry, that was bad.

Nice event for charity. You can't win 'em all--but at least Gilda's Club was a big winner.

Hey--hope you're feeling better by now.

Your niece is stunning! What pretty hair.

Wow...you sold out in 15 minutes...

Honestly, I think that's way more flattering than any medal.

So big hugs and congrats to you!!

The public who ate your chilli are the best judges! Good luck for next year.

har- Was fun, temp went from 50F to 72F from 9am until 430pm.
Steph- She's a sweetie, and helped a bit with clean up!
beth- I would really like new judges, we place too often in other contests to not get in the top 10! Redhead? His two other kids have exactly the same shade!
nancybee- Well, I never give up!
UrbanV- The Buffalo Bros. are not related by blood, but I do wish she was my niece!
Snowniece- Thank you! Your belief in me keeps me going 'til the next cook-off!
DogB- Ours did have a little extra oomph this year, but it was well recieved!
Jen- We sell out every year in between 12 and 15 minutes! The line for our chili tells us who wants the good stuff!
Pink- Photos were shot at the last minute! We are cooking when this is going on!
Ake- I wish they had a Peoples' Choice- We'd be in there!

DogB- You really ought to look into your local contests! I think you'd make a heck ofa batch of chili, and enjoy the atmosphere of these events!
meredic- thanks for your kind words! I had been at a party the night previous, and morning was more work than I wanted! I am not growing old very gracefully....
