Three Nights Of Food Requests...
When my wife leaves for work, I always ask "What sounds good for supper?" I throw out few ideas, and when she gets home- it is underway! Labor Day was Monday Big Meal, the rest of the week was comfort food..
Tuesday- Tacos. Pretty predictable ingredients- but I still love those flat bottomed shells from Old El Paso brand! The beef filling is flavored by my own blend of spices and herbs- sorta have to be there to see what happens!
Wednesday- Marinated Chicken Tenders(Asian flavor) and refried rice. This was pretty good, as some leftover rice was refried (surprisingly good!)- added sauteed celery, carrots, onion, with soy sauce and butter...simple and tasty! Chicken went well with this. Cooking and prep was about 1/2 hour!
Thursday- Our cheese bacon wrapped hot dogs(Hebrew Nationals!) Can be eaten with or without hot dog bun...mustard and catsup is fine for me!
Later today, a home made pizza.. I'm actually going to get out my pizza stone and peel! I'm thinking hot Italian sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms.. Have a good week-end, and say a prayer for the families that lost someone on Sept. 11 in New York, on the anniversary of this generation's "Day of Infamy"..

You can't get Koegel Viennas on your side of the state?
hehehehe....first on Uncle Buff's Friday Post!!!!!
TOUCHDOWN!!!!!!!
You have given me some terrific ideas.
G-man- Yes, now try a Hebrew National and tell me the best!
Katherine- Simple stuff, but it really is what we've been doing!
You need simple food on the weekdays! Nothing says healthy and nutritious like hot dogs wrapped in cheese and bacon, right? Hell, where's the fun in tofurkey and bean past, anyway? And I know you saw my September 11 memorial; thank you for commenting.
We are all going to die anyway- have a bacon wrapped, cheesy hot dog before you go! G-man had the most home hitting tribute- please check it out.
I make tacos once a week or so too, and its funny because I use the el paso flat bottom shells too.
What do you season the beef with? I just use the packaged seasoning but it would be awesome to do something better.
You know how to cook. Just one question. How do you get to the store, get all of the ingredients, and get home to start cooking in the time it takes your wife to get home from work? That's some fast moving!
Mr.C- I have two spice/herb drawers in my kitchen that mildly put- are over kill! I use Mexican oregano(differs from Italian!), my own toasted cumin seeds(ground), onion and garlic(granulated)hot pepper powder, mild chili powder, salt, and black ground pepper! My son dated a girl of Hispanic descent and she said- "Who taught you this?" It is like what I grew up with!" Yeah, I am that good! If you need exact, E-mail me..
Steph- Good to see your face again! Missed ya kid! I have home stocks of stuff... borderline hoarder! I can make something from darn near nothing- that's what I do best!
I looked all over your blog and profile but don't see an email. Mine is trailerfun@gmail
Its gotta be stuff I can get at hispanic groceries or regular groceries, not stuff I have to ground up myself hah.
Aren't those flat bottomed shells awesome?
It does sound like comfort food week and it everything looks delicious. I've never tried those flat bottomed shells before. I do have a little tray that holds them upright on everyone's plate and that works pretty good too.
At first I thought it said you were gonna get out your pizza stone and pee! LOL
Why does someone else's food always sound better than one's own? LOL
So, why have you not opened up your own restaurant? Comfort food is the best! I'm a mac 'n cheese girl myself. We went to a place the other day that Deep Fried mac n cheese balls. They were fabulous!
I would love one of those bacon wrapped dogs! Delicious!! :)
Wishing you guys a fabulously relaxing weekend!

I am waiting on the pizza!
Mr.C- buffalodickdy@yahoo.com
blondeD- Yes! Work like mad!
blueV- Change of plans- still pizza, but now Dad Pizza- kid is coming over with GF!
Ake- Jeez I don't know, but if someone else would cook, I'd be grateful!
Rachel- You are a keeper, for sure! Love Mac-N-Cheese anything!
Snowniece- Bad for you- but what a way to go!
DogB- Coming up, got to get busy right now!
YOU are so sweet to ask your wife what she'd like for dinner. I imagine you do the same before whooppeee.. couldnt resist, BD!
Donna- cannot post on your blog... what the hell did you do, to make this so hard..strike that...difficult?
We are going to eat some of what I froze last weekend. I cooked a lot!!!
((hugs))
Thank you.

Mushroom and pepperoni...that's what I usually like on my pizza (if it's not Hawaiian). Homemade pizza dough...NOW you're talkin'!
I'd like to see pics of that someday!
Everything looks so scrummy, I can almost smell and taste it.... just swap the sausage hotdog thingie for a beef or lamp sausage and drop the pepparoni from the pizza and Im ready to go :)
x
mmmm Pizza is my weakness. I think I would spend two hours in spin class just to eat one whole pizza.. that's our secret...
My tacos were the hit this week, I use96/4 ground meat, pepper, salt and cumin..as my mother used to do when I was growing up..
However I never ask for her 75 different recipes for liver;)
Nice job
Hit40- I usually cook a lot on Sunday, and we live off it for a couple of days after that!
SnowN- You're worth it!
Scarlet- I haven't bought a pizza crust in I can't remember when!
Marmy- Half the pizza got green peppers and onions- not my side!
Darngirl- I toast and grind my own cumin powder from seeds- I love that flavor!
mmm... I love food requests. Don't you. Just the best kind of feedback. No pun intended.
Today I remember the 8 families from my town who lost loved ones on 9/11. My little village has a beautiful memorial on the town square and a lovely ceremony, complete with taps, is played out every Sept. 11.
I also pray for the hundreds of commuters who witnessed horrific images that day. They to live with memories that no one should have.
T.G.C.- The fear people live in, can be worse than what reason says won't happen. That's what terrorists want. We don't need tall buildings anymore- they were made obsolete by our advanced technical abilities to communicate nearly anywhere- anytime.
Never thought to wrap the hot dogs in bacon. bet my daughter would eat them that way!
Megan- These rock! For kids who eat hot dogs, cheese, and bacon, you too- can be a hero! Tell them you invented a new dish called frank-cheesies.. they will speak well of you when you are gone! "Mom made frank-cheesies, died of a heart attack- but that's how we want to go.." God, I am so bad... a couple of them won't do any harm!
YAHOO!!!!! I want in on the THROWDOWN!!!
hehehe, galen is a self proclaimed 'blog whore' . He likes to be first everywhere :D
OOOOH for a ready meal after coming home from work! That seems like such a distant dream for me...
Indian men will never cook for their wives even if they are sitting home... Even if they are in America & sitting home...
Lucky wife! I love it when my husband cooks for me though sadly he only has the time on weekends and vacations. I'd love to eat at your house, looks so scrumptious!
Beth- Which one?
Mona- Yesterday just a large Chef salad, but she asked for that...
Jamie- Thanks! Today roast chicken stuffed with Italian flavored rice..
That's cute about you and your wife. Alexis and I work together and every afternoon, I stop by her desk and ask what she would like for dinner.
Send me a bacon wrapped dog please!
Wives- gotta love 'em- can't kill 'em! I thought cooking was a self defense class.... Learned through loving a clueless woman when it came to cooking! She mows the grass, and contributes more than her share to our 36+ years marriage! Sounds like you got a keeper too, bud...
Your wish is my command Sire...
Go See.....
Damn. B and I really need to step our game!
G-man- What a great day!
Lilu- Next food post coming up!
