A Food Gift! What A Pleasant Surprise!
Last night, my wife comes in with a package for that just came in the mail. She is the Mail lady in this house, so she had opened it before I even got it! I was very pleasantly surprised to find Katherine Aucoin, a blogger friend- had sent me two kinds of soup mixes from her region of the world! The photo shows what kind of soups and the brand that they go by.. She was getting even with me for sending her some of our regional mustard and a B.D. tee shirt!
We plan to make the potato soup first, as Katherine recommends that one highly. She wrote a note advising me this soup is even better with the addition of sharp cheddar cheese and bacon, crumbled. That is exactly what I am going to do!
Thanks again, Katherine- I really appreciate this!
Enjoy your week-ends everybody! We're going to have a souper Friday night, and a big, dress-up wedding on Saturday... I wonder what they'll think of my ponytail I've been growing since I retired...

Glad you received the soup and sorry it took so long.
I am delinquent on posting but have used your mustard and will post about it...the mustard is like crack for me now!
ooooh--I love potato soup! I'll have to look and see if I can find that brand down here...
Ooo... love potato soup! And from Pigeon Forge, TN no less!
Katherine- I was just going to E-mail you and say thanks again!
Tavolini- Looks easy to make, too!
Finn- I know my wife will enjoy this too!
Hey UncleBuf,
I love potato soup too!! Katherine rocks! Getting even is fun and tasty sometimes.
I think your ponytail just proves you're getting hipper with age. :D But no wearing black socks up to your calves, okay!? ;)
--snow
you're right--I may have to change my name--but TropicalElf or HumidityElf just doesn't have the same ring to it...
Snowniece- Sweaty Elf? Oops! Girlie girls don't sweat... Glow Elf- Hey! That ain't bad!
Hey Buff! I am still alive and back on the blogs...I can't promise that I will be consistent, but you never know. And potato soup with bacon and cheddar sounds heavenly.
Michelle- I thought you were dead!.. every night checking those milk cartons in 7-11 for an update, phone calls to America's Most Wanted, long distance phone calls to all the wine bars in California... I'm happy you are alive, and hopefully well!
How kind of your friend. You'll report back to us on the soup of course?
Ake-Of course! I just checked my fridge and a trip to the local meat market is next! Out of bacon, and sharp cheddar! That just doesn't happen here often! Sure hope you're OK after numb nuts pulled out on you and caused that accident...good thing you have witnesses...
That's a perfect mail day find and potato soup is a great way to kick off the fall! Enjoy!
Adding Bacon makes things taste better?
Really?
I'll have to try that.
(Riiiiiiight! hahahahahahahaha)
BlueV- If I had only one word to describe Katherine, that word would be Class... She could teach a course in it! God! Does the world need more of people like her..
G-man- You little dinklet with lips! You and I must meet some day- we're on the same frequency! Been to jail lately?.. Have a good week-end, my friend!
Sounds like the perfect gift for a man of your taste. I hope it's fabulous.
That kinda sounds laughable, But here recently I TOO have purchased some soup mixes that REALLY kicked ass. Enjoy !
K- I'm one of those people, that if it isn't as good as claimed, I will blame myself! It is seriously thought that counts! I have faith in Katherine, and her tastes- and I know this will be great!
Heff- I make most from scratch, but I never discount someone knows more than me about something!
Soup is good food! A happy weekend to all of you!!!
Soup is white folk soul food.. It comforts, and fills us warmly.. Seriously, there is no race, color, or creed that does not enjoy good soup, before a meal- or as a meal!
mmm... soup. I'm teaching a soup and bread class tomorrow so it looks like we will both be having a souper weekend! Weddings are such fun too!
TheG.C.- You go to the damn wedding! I'll teach the class.. I know which one I'd rather be doing... Well, we all gotta do what we gotta do..
just found you...Great blog. Nice style, and from one retired old man to another, grow that tail!
Griller- Welcome! We cheat, lie, and have a lot of fun here- and if you want to learn or teach grilling and smoking- you will be wayyyy past welcome! You'll be appreciated! Hope you come back soon! Good folks come here.. check out the others who visit!
When we went to the wedding in July, there were 2 pony tails: my 6'4" son's red pony tail, and one grey one. I complimented him on keeping his hair and enjoying it. Sadly, my dearly beloved is follically challenged, or he'd have a pony tail. Well, he'd also have better hair than I do, so maybe that's not quite so sad...
Marjie- You nailed it in the throat! I only got X enough of air to breathe, and I want to do this! I truly do not care what others think- as they aren't paying my bills! I sought others approval for a very long time.......and now , I truly do not care, as it puts no cash in my hamper.. Know your worth.. no one else cares..
Food bloggers are a great group of people, aren't they?
Chris- There are keepers, and this woman is one of them! You, my friend are one too!
Wow. Those soups look so good!
And really? A pony tail? Can you post a picture of it?
You wife gave you her package? Shouldn't it be the other way around? LOL! I have been by here before and there was never a box for followers and being that I was too lazy to copy your url I had to wait! At least I admit my faults! LOL!
I obviously have the wrong blogger friends ... I want the ones who send gifts!
A ponytail.. ooooohhhhh laaaa laaaa.. something alese to play with..
have fun at the wedding.. and wheres my teeshirt?
Bina- Soup we had(potato) was great! Wife demanded left-over soup for lunch! Ponytail photo? Maybe someday... A little more growth required..
Otin- I'm lazy, and computer challenged! Welcome!
E.D.- We tend to exchange things, which is a large first step- but one that has always worked for me! Welcome!
Donna- well, I wish everyone in my life was as thrilled as you about the hair! Must make new batch up- I think I'm getting closer to a web site line of food and clothing items..
Very nice!!! Let us know how it turns out!!!
Peace
Oh how cool! I'll be looking forward to your post about how yummy the soup is! :)
Odat! Two girls I thought were dead have posted! You and Michelle..Missed you both, and I hope you are well.. Made comment on three postings you put up-and didn't know about!
Stacy- Soup yummy! I will post a short critique probably today..
How cute that you two send each other little prezzies in the mail.
[ I sure hope she's not loco and poisoned the soup.]I will keep a vigilant eye on your blog to see if you return. If not,I will call the police and point them in the right direction. Don't worry[unless, I am too late for this warning]. It's a good thing you posted the 'evidence'.
Clever Buffalo Dick
:)
U-Mouth- The soup was past good, it was elegant! Katherine, is a reserved, but good hearted woman! No man with any appreciation of women would not put her in the top five! When I see her blog logo, all I see is class...When I see her actions, even more so...Many people would love to ace me, but I got so many friends lookin' out for me- it's like the hand of God is over my head!
So cool. I'm not much of a soup person but that sounds great.
Steph- Happy Birthday! All who visit her please visit her blog and say the same!
From Mustard like "crack" to soup that is "elegant", this thread has me wondering whats the next fix ! LOL
King - Food is what we do.. New York may have more choices, but the good stuff always comes from the people who care, and where it isn't easy! You folks get great food on every corner, we have to look harder, and go further afield!
Cool...I love soup, let us know how it turned out with the extra additions!
ChefE- This one is all Katherine.. I was the vehicle...
Ok... I wondered where the soup mix was from. Very nice!!
