Weird, But Really Good Eats!

I actually made an open face, broiled treat from slices from that large Puff ball mushroom! Seasoned it with Worchester sauce, and a blend of dry seasonings, topped it with turkey and cheese- and turned it loose! Not half bad! Good mushroomy flavor, and original-I'm sure! Tonight, we had a Chicken tenders, with Swiss cheese and bacon concoction, that couldn't be called Cordon Bleu, but had the same flavors... I even topped mine with blue cheese dressing..and a couple of cobs of some of the last Michigan fresh corn we are liable to get this season! I'm no Dog Bloggy, but I do get my "cookin' out of the box" groove on- once in a while!

Next time I would slice them thin, into 3" by 3"s, batter them and deep fry... Imagine your own dip- and only your beloved Donna would look better than that! Be well, BamaBoy!

buffalo you pulled this so far out of the box it fits in a tube! The open face puffball and then the tenders cordon bleu - very nice - very nice indeed! deconstructed and - excellent! same ol' stuff different arrangement - my favorite food!

DogB- You and I might be the only people who understand this when cooking! Our restaurant would be a huge success!

VMom- When I write one, the autographed copy is yours "On the house"!!

To say you think outside the box would be an understatement! I love mushrooms, and never thought to do anything like this. Nice work ;)

I love how you used that mushroom, an unexpected gift from nature.

I too have been thoroughly enjoying the local corn. We're so lucky with our fresh produce here in the summer, aren't we?

Rachel- Hope you return every time! I have even said in corporate meetings- why a box, when zip-lock bags work so well? This kind of talk did not serve me well in my career.. I will always be the square peg trying to get into the round hole..
BlueV- People are almost scared to use Nature's bounty, unless in has a bar code on it!

Concoction doesn't apply to you Buff....Masterpiece does though!!

Very, very nice Buff. you definitely cooked outside of the box. Everything looks incredible.

Sounds a great 'concoction' to me! :)

You probably know I don't eat fungus. But this is a nice creation for one. You were indeed channelling Dog on this one.

G-man- The mushroom was the first time I broiled a Puffball like that, but it was tasty, firm, and surprisingly filling!
Katherine- I'm starting to experiment a little again, we tend to get in ruts here!
Ake- Both worked out, and both were new techniques for those foods for me..
Margie- We play off each other for ideas once in a while, and swap techniques, too!

put cheese on ANYTHING and it's instantly better!!

Stacy Uncorked said...

Ohhhhh! You make mushrooms look so delectable! :)

buffalodick said...

Beth- I agree! Three sliced Puffball mushrooms had sharp, smoked Povolone, while one had sharp Cheddar.. The chicken tenderloins had Swiss... I usually have eight or more versions of cheese in the house- but never drink milk! Goofy, or what?
Stacy- Good job on the wine making article- right as rain! The Mushrooms were a little adventuresome for my wife, but were good in flavor and texture- but felling like Portabella can be. Same ability to soak up flavor of marinade, but never marinade too long- gets soggy..Pick and eat quickly, do not store with other foods- as they will pick-up a mushroomy smell!

It's me the poser! Ha! Just came over to "give some back." So here it is:

Change "dick" to "brain" and POOF! You're on target!!

I'm not selling anything, begging, or pretending- how about you? I'm not the one you called you on this- others said it to me! Why don't you see if you can find them? Run your scams somewhere else, this is a friendly blog..

Gene- Next day was endoscopy- throat doesn't feel much like eating for a couple of days!
ChefE- Out of production now, but we have a Phaltzgraff outlet 30 miles from here, where you can really save money on dishes, and find replacement pieces sometimes..

Mona- Both were pretty tasty- and easy!
