Tuesday, Wednesday Happenings And Eats...
Tuesday, I had signed up for a focus group on a new way to make and save money by giving it to a charity instead of the government(short version!). I thought it was going to be a high pressure sales pitch, but was pleasantly surprised to find a room with an audience of 15 people of above average intelligence, a knowledgeable speaker, and a time table they actually stuck to! I listened for an hour, filled out a 7 question opinion based observation sheet, and was paid $65 bucks- which will cover the Mother's Day dinner I have planned!
We couldn't wait for Cinco de Mayo, so we had a "wet" pork burrito Tuesday night. Later that night, I was headed down to our family room, slipped on the last carpeted step- and sprained my big toe! Really slows you down for a couple of days...
Wednesday, we were going to have chicken salad in a half a muskmelon, but decided to try something a little different... We've all had a tuna melt, why not a chicken salad melt? Broiled shortly until heated through, then topped with cheese and melted- it wasn't bad! Hope your week is going your way!

I did exactly the same thing to my big toe years ago and boy did it hurt!
Hmmm, so why not a ham salad melt? Ham and cheese are a natural pair, and ham salad is like the best. Sooo why not!
Hope your big toe is feeling better. I know how bad that hurts, I did it last year when my son left an escrima stick on the basement stairs. The hurt that keeps on giving with every step, right?
That chicken melt looks good! Is that mozerella on there as well?
Your poor toe. I hope it gets to feeling better. We never know how much we depends on toes until something happens to one.
cantalopes are called musk melons I wonder what you call a musk melon- everything is different up north I guess - sounds like a nice mothers day dinner for sure.
Beth- I still like a tuna melt better. but it wasn't bad!
Marmy- Welcome anytime! No pork, I promise!
Ake- About onece a tear I jam it good... Walk like a pirate for about 3 days!
Chris- swearing helps..after that you endure..
Bina- Co-jack cheese- a tex-Mex staple around here!
DogB- It is indeed a cantalope, but I go "regional" once in a while- as you well know!
There is a focus group place in Columbus, OH that will pay you cash if you will sit about an hour to give an opinion on a new product! Good deal. And... they are always looking for teachers for new teaching products.
Usually $75 to $100 for the hour.
How nice you are planning a moms day dinner. Chicken salad melt sounds yummy..
I can say I've NEVER had a chicken salad melt.. but yeah, why not?!
And 65 bucks sounds pretty great for giving one's opinion.. heck, I do that for free all the time. (:
You never know just how important toes are until you hurt one!
Hope you heal up quickly!
That chicken salad melt sounds yummy--but nothing beats the Filet minion on grill--What time is dinner???
Hope your toe ain't too toe-up!
Glad the focus group turned out to be fun.
Have a great weekend.
How can anything with melted cheese on it be bad? Sorry about your toe; i know it won't keep you from preparing your Mother's Day feast!
Hit40- First time I ever did that, pretty easy money!
Donna- Still have to work out Mom's Day details!
CDB- I still prefer tuna over chicken in a melt, but it wasn't bad..
Dana- A friend of mine lost his big toe in a lawn mower accident, and to this day he walks with kind of a rolling gait to allow for the loss of balance..
StarB- Kind of an ambitious menu, but it will get done!
Gene- Still hurts but at least I can walk again!
K- I wouldn't say it was fun, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!
Katherine- I've been melting cheese on everything lately!
"Swine Burrito" ?
Heff- Think of a dry meat pork burrito, with cheese and salsa all over it...
So sorry to hear about your toe sure do hope it feels better soon. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. My 55 is up.
Weclome to the blog, Jadey!
Yikes, hope your toe is feeling better.
Yes! That's what I can do with the leftover roasted chicken... chicken melt sandwiches! Thank you! Hope the toe is mucho better today!
Jen- Still sore but can get around...
Petals- Leftovers is what I do best!
Feel better...and I love focus groups. It's quick and easy money for your opinion. If only we could make a living out of them!
PS - Why do I always pop in here when I'm hungry? You make all the pictures come ALIVE...and then I want to make whatever it is you describe. (Good thing I'm a lightweight!)
This sounds like a great meal...if I pass hubby's email to you, think you could give him a great big hint?
I kicked my foot which I am not sure, but it feels like a also did something similar this past week...Chris is right the hurt that keeps on giving :)
Hope your wife appreciates, and vise versa!
Scarlet- New post going up next, hope the photos came out!
Chef- Good meal, if a little disorganized!
