A Little Brightness In A Michigan Blizzard...
My wife (code name "Goob" or "Goobie"-actually Sharon!) won a door prize at one of the holidays' events we all have to go to. She comes home with a plant that resembled Audrey II in "Little Shop Of Horrors"- as a prize? My wife loves plants, but usually they don't love her back... I don't know who killed more, Jimmy Jones with Kool-Aid, or my wife with fertilizer and houseplants....
Anyway, Audrey II grew like it was on Blood, or Miracle-Grow! Next thing, It's blossoming into a really cool flower! To see a living thing doing so well in the wasteland we call "Michigan Winter" is amazing! It brightens a time where light is short, and the predominant colours are black, white, and gray...
In the the night, when all is quiet- you hear a voice you don't recognize.... Saying plaintively "Feeed me, feeed me! This thing is getting big, and I haven't seen the cat lately...

That does somewhat resemble Audrey II (Seymore was the little nerdy guy)
I hope you find the cat! ;)
Very pretty!
thats so funny we just watched that movie this weekend....
Audrey Amaryllis seems to be thriving on the cat.
Did your wife read this??? lol.
You must have the right conditions for that to bloom! Very, very beautiful, especially in winter time, as you say. (Hope you find the cat!!!)
Peace
Ake-That's what it is, all right..., but I'm no florist!
Tav- It really is!
jen- A splash of color in a gray world...
Marmy- You Brits love your gardens, don't you?
leighann- Edited post to correct name- it's been awhile since we saw the movie!
mel- Thanks!
DogB- We actually went to the play a couple of years ago with friends, and it was the best!
annie- All you animal lovers- saw cat this morning, covered in plant spit...
odat- Wife got a kick out of it!
Flowers in the middle of winter are a gentle reminder that spring will come!
I saw the musical many years ago when it first came out....
Hope you find your cat soon!!
Lovely splash of colour.
I didn't mean for you to edit your post.... I love that movie and could probably recite it from beginning to end. Too bad I'm not a better singer! :)
If I knew my cat wouldn't eat them, I would totally get one.
Very pretty!
(BTW...my mom's name is Sharon and her friends still call her "Chickie". LOL)
Don't say that Buff promise me your joking about the cat!!! I noticed Snowdrops and daffodils coming up the other day in my garden, but we have had snow today so I hope they survive (like your cat)...
I have a black thumb just like your wife. All the right intentions are there, but a death always occurs. I nearly broke up with Craig when he brought me a plant. I now consider him an accessory to the ficus murder.
I guess "feed me goobie" has been working....LOL
lets see some pictures of your baked goods.....? did that sound wrong? lets see how to re phrase... show us your bisquits...no thats not right ..... how 'bout a cream pie? now that is plain wrong... well since my foot is all the way there show us your cookies...
doggyblogger, ya should say..... show us ya dumplings :)

dana- If you knew how rare a plant that lived is in our house...
DogB- Great musical score!
casdok- cat's OK, Plant spit it out!
leighann- Glad you did! I hate being wrong, but I love when someone points it out early!
amy- Why do we all end up with more names than our real one? :)
queenie- Cat's fine, apparently she didn't taste to good!
michelle ann- That ficus deserved to die....:)
DogB- "The Goob" has had the nickname for 35 years! Even her sons will come in and say "Where's Goobie?"!
marmie- When are you going to post a picture of yourself? Dumplings would be nice in the shot...
"Audrey" is beautiful! Wish I could grow stuff like that...I'm lucky my rosemary is still living!
I am a plant killer as well.
I have moved and would love it if you could stop by.

Haha..if my dentist disappears, I'm blaming your Audrey 2!
It is beautiful and quite interesting.
It's amazing how a beautiful flower can light up the whole room.
Nice work!
I can hear you yelling:
"Sharooooooooooooooooooon!!!"
LOL
So your wife and my plant killing self.. we'd get along.
I do fine with plants really, so long as they're outside for some reason.
Finally, something on your blog I don't want to eat!!
Okay, so I didn't want to eat Clara or anything, but you know... ;)
Glad you survived the winter nastiness. We just can't seem to catch a break from it this winter!!
And many congrats to your wife (who has the same name as my mom!) Very cool!
