Korean Style Beef Short Ribs...
I'll start by saying this- I love the flavor of these things! We were shopping for a few things at Sams'Club, and I can't go in there without hitting the meat department! They will carry some cuts of meat most places around here don't- like short ribs. The first time I had these in a Korean style was at a very good Korean restaurant( go figure!) The flavor was intense, the meat was fairly tender- and I knew I would definitely be fixing these at home!
Marinade- chopped green onions, rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, peanut oil, red pepper, honey, and five-spice. Left in marinade 24hrs, turned meat a few times.
The traditional cooking method would be to grill these over an intense charcoal fire, for a short period of time. I'm going to broil them instead- maybe 5 minutes a side. The brown rice, and sauteed mushrooms should go well with this! I may add a picture of the cooked product- if it looks good- and I remember to...
Two more pictures- one is the plate of food we deliver to my son (Craignutzz)nearly every Sunday while he has to work. Calls me and says "It's great to know what's going to be on the menu by reading your blog!". I don't if he'd have gotten it, after calling me a liar.... I didn't know he liked Kimchee, although I know he'll eat anything!
By the way, the ribs really were good- imagine kabob sized chunks of marinated beef, done about medium-rare, still sizzling- tender and full of flavor!

Having spent a year in Korea, I am very fond of the food. You don't by chance have a recipe for Kimchee do you?
There's about a million of them! The restaurant I referred to served 3 different ones! I love the stuff, but no one in my family does!
Those ribs look like they're gonna be tasty. I once tried making oriental chicken by first dipping the raw whole chicken into a sugary soy sauce bath and then letting them hang for twenty four hours to tighten up the skin. They came out crispy and juicy but letting whole chikens hang around is not easy in a NYC apartment.
Don't they eat dog in Korea??? :(
Anyway your recipe sounds yummy, yummy. ((slurp))
LOL... Ake beat me to it..... and chimp and snake.....
They do look scrummie though even though Im alergic to pork....

I can't bare all this delicious food. Especially the pictures.
I am going to eat my seared tuna with pepper and cup of brown rice with rabbit food on the side.

OK Roger is killing a cow for you, so I'll deliver it with him and we can have big ole' Michigan BBQ. What day should we show up?
DogB- Happy with results! Hanging chickens would be a new one for me!
Ake- If they do, it's not in any of my cookbooks...
Marmy- These were beef- not pork!
craig- I know you liked this stuff too!
har- Sounds good, except for rabbit food. Lettuce, or Purina? :)
Jen- I would never mistake you for anyones' son!
mel- Like alot of Asian food- long prep, quick and easy cooking!
rog- When my two boys were lliving here, we'd buy a half or a quarter as needed!
jeff- Better wait 'til snow's gone!
um, will you adopt me and deliver food to me too? ;)
i'm fortunate i have high metabolism, otherwise sams club would single-handedly make me obese.
how can i not want to finish the entire keg full of sweet pickles?
I bet you could make dog taste good! ;)
Short ribs remind me of dog poopie!
GREAT, now my mouth is watering!
Let me know when the big Michigan BBQ is going to be. I'll get my ticket!
Damn that looks good!
Please send adoption papers...
Beth- We've been through this before... But love to cook you guys a meal someday!
Teq-moc- It can be an addiction! When your wife wants a case of tampons, and hasn't needed them in years, and you answer "Yes- that's a great deal!" It's time to reclaim the thought of what you came in the store for in the first place!
Ake- What we spent on our dog Clara, the Airedale today at the vet- We could have gone to the best restaurant in town!
prepros- If dog poop tasted that good, I wouldn't have the Spring clean-up of land mines!
now I have visions of a plate with a whole set of cow ribs LOL just like in the carton Desperate Dan LMFAO....... I honestly didnt know ya could get cow ribs.....
x
marmy- Amazing woman- Cows got ribs like all mammals- and I know how to cook 'em! Ya just bust 'em small-like! Criminy! I'm startin' to talk like the woman!! God save the King and me....

Ive never been to a Korean restaurant, but sounds delish!!
there are 24 hour Korean barbecues all over north Atlanta--I've not ventured into one yet, but that should change soon :)
Tavo would be nuts about these ribs...
Oh yum! I love this dish...a Korean restaurant here sells it as Bul-Kogi and serves it with a side of blazing hot Kimchee... So good!
We always ran out of freezer space when we were Sam's Club members. We also would run out of places to store the toliet paper.
Mmm...beeeeef....
Do you have any dead hedgehog recipes? ;)
