1. I have an inquiring mind. New information, skills, people, or places all hold my interest better than the comfort of what I already know.
2. I believe in sharing knowledge. I have never kept information of any nature away from others who might benefit from it. I have been involved in technical products (tooling materials) sales for over 30 yrs. My reputation for helping people decide and find a given product- whether I sell it or not, has helped many solve problems they were having. Long term, it hasn't hurt my sales numbers either!
3. My word is my bond. If I commit to it, it will happen.
4. I enjoy cheesy, mindless science-fiction movies. I like good ones even better!
5. My profile states I'm left-handed. I am the most left-handed person you are ever likely to meet! Throw, bat, golf, bowling, shooting, eating, writing, anything you do, I do left handed. This carries on to my feet also! I kick left footed, and in high school, I lettered in the high jump- jumping from opposite side (the only person in our entire league to do this!).
6. Genetically bad eyes. I needed glasses by about 4th grade, but wouldn't wear them all the time until my senior year (vain!). I had cataract surgery in my 40s(young!) and now have permanent interocular corrective lenses in both eyes. It's really cool as I really don't have to wear glasses!
7. I prefer verbal communication to writing. My cell phone package is 3000 minutes a month, unlimited on week-ends! However, I am glad I started blogging as my rusty writing skills are being polished up! Like a number of bloggers I have the pleasure to read, maybe I'll do some fiction writing and possibly get published.....
8. I like to cook better than I like to eat! A bologna 'n cheese sammich is as enjoyable to me as anything fancy! I enjoy the compliments and the sharing of cooking knowledge more than the eating itself!
There you have it, kids- you can wake up now.....Everybody have a good week-end!

Now I know why I enjoy blogging with you, its not just your food..
I like the sound of words like "interocular corrective lenses" and good bologna on fresh white bread with mayo and a slice of ripe tomato is fancy.
Great answers!. I didn't actually thing you would do it. Very cool!
Hello! Sorry I've been a stranger. I like your answers! Aims x
Sci-Fi rocks!
You forgot to mention PB&J sandwiches.
Queenie- what a nice thing to say! Want some candy, little girl? :)
DogB- Going blind is kind of cool too! Everyone looks great- kind of like they were air brushed...When they popped the new lenses in, it was like your basic "Evangelist-smacked-my-forehead" miracle!
Mike- My word is my bond-remember number 3?
Aims! It's good to hear from you! Don't be a stranger anymore!
PaulC- I've read hundreds of sci-fi books, and I think I've seen darn near every movie...P,B,&J? Gotta be white bread, gotta be crunchy peanut butter, and it's gotta be grape jelly- not seedy jam or preserves!
Hi there Buffalodickdy! You asked about that lovely song I have in my sidebar (see the video part way down the page)? Well, the Canadian blogger who sang that song is Mother of Invention. Lovely isn't it! The reason it's on my blog is because we tried to get it so she could put it on her blog (if you follow the above link you will find she also has it), but had difficulties with the file type. So I made a quick video, so the song could be played over it - worked beautifully. If you click on the video itself ("From the Soul Within") it will take you back to YouTube where there's more information! I have another one to do, which I've been very slow about, but it will be done eventually!
I'm sure MOI will be happy for you to come and tell her how much you like her song - she's chuffed every time! :-D
I love #3 (so few men now a days live up to their word), and share #4 (cheese, yum!) and unfortunately #6 (can't see through my left eye for the life of me, and was born that way).
Unclebuff, I've been meaning to ask you--can you teach me how to make acorn squash without destroying it--aka having it come out crunchy... or having it come out half-cooked?
Please?? I tried to make some the other day and it went horribly awry.
I like the kind with butter and brown sugar sauce and now that it's cold I have been so craving it. I followed the recipe I found, but the tops came out all burnt and the bottom didn't cook well, so I just scraped the edible part and threw away the rest... Should I just microwave it instead of baking it?
The only thing I didn't do was cover it because I didn't have any foil. Perhaps I really just need the foil?
thank you!!!

whats so cool about going blind?
do tell...
Is it all the new aromas?
annelisa- pretty name! Thanks for the song info. The woman has what I oddly describe as a "granola voice"! I can envision her walking on a wooded path, dressed like a '60s hippie chick with a guitar, living a simple life that probably involves eating granola!
Jen- Even though I make light of it, I'm grateful to modern science/medicine that allowed me to now see quite well. You see, I found out during this eye cataract episode that I am a "sight memory" person- meaning alot of what I learn and remember is through my vision...
Snow- I hate giving cooking advice on a food that really isn't one of my favorites! Here goes- If you wish to leave it in natures' container while you bake it, do so for the recipes' recommended time, covering with foil the last 1/2 hr. If you are cubing or "chunking" it first, bake in a dish that has a cover, again covering it when it shows signs of burning. Do not add butter and sugar until almost done, or after cooking to avoid burning ( recipes having a great deal of sugar are well known to burn quickly in open heat!). It can be steamed, boiled, or cooked covered in a puddle of some liquid without burning- but losing some flavor if you do...
DogB- I gained alot of insight and emphathy when losing my sight. My late Mom had cataract surgery 40yrs before I did, and the technology then was scraping the cataract off the eyes, hospitalization for a week with no head movement, and then wearing super thick glasses with no side vision.. Each of my actual eye surgerys took 1/2 hr each, and could see without glasses 24hrs later!
It great to read more about fellow bloggers, it is good to share! :)
Very cool! I see you are receptive and giving at the same time! That is like so balanced. I envy you!
Even I try to keep all my promises! :)
I would love to have been am bi dexterous!
I loved feeding people too!
Hey! does that mean I am cool too ? :D
A man of his word is very hard to find these days. Actually a person of either sex who sticks by their word is hard to find. Kudos.
Hey Lefty, I've got some cool ring tones for those 3000 minutes!!
;-)
Peace
Ake- Blogging does make you realize some of the differences in people- and at the same time, some of the similarities...
Mona- If I have never said it, I apoligize!I will say it now- You are very cool!
har- 1st rule of real friendship to me: I don't care what you did, or how bad people think you are, as long as you don't screw me- you'll have one friend...
odat- I did! Before voice mail, we all had recorders hooked into the phone. My message was from an old Jimmy Buffett tune that had a riff that went like this; "We're not home, we're not home- you better leave a message 'cause we're not home".... I'd then voiceover the music part with a message (Better story with the music!).
ROFL!! Guess what? I did EVERYTHING wrong I could possibly do! HAHA! (Thank god I have other skills!) And I would have totally guessed that you liked squash. You get an extra thank you for advising me on something you don't normally eat. :D
Today I am attempting sweet potato chips... we'll see how it goes. They are really hard to cut and are looking more like "chunks" than chips. :P

It's good to get to know you a little better...
Tell me now.. what do you look like?
Will you ever show yourself to us?
I love meme's great answers!
I Have early cataracts too! They are not "ready" yet but since I have been legally blinde without glasses or contacts since birth I am excited that after the surgery I may not have to wear anything!
I am scared about the surgery though. I hate eye exams so I know I will hate that too!
Snow- Let me jnow how the sweet potato chips came out!
nancybee- A picture of myself? That would go against everything the Witness Protection Program stands for....
Mel- you may need glasses for reading afterward someday- I don't think they have bifocal implanted lenses yet! I'll warn you, the exams for measuring your eyes for the lenses will take alot longer than the surgeries, but it's really important to get them measured right!
mmmmm....i'm craving bologna and cheese now. on WHITE bread. yes yes! i recently saw a cheesy science-fiction movie on the sci-fi channel. do you ever watch that? it was about being abducted by aliens and it was pretty gross.
I love a man that loves to cook! Now I wish I was your neighbor...on the left side of course!
I have to disagree with one point -- bologna is not food.
I prefer writing. I hate talking on the darn phone!
Pink- Kogel ring bologna is the best Michigan makes! The Sci-Fi Channel runs movies I want to see, but it is the worst for commercial breaks!
R.L.L.- Left of me is OK! The guy that lives there now mows his damn grass too much- at my dinner time!
sornie- Michigan has some of the strictest laws on hot dogs and bologna- only PRIME lips and snouts go into ours....
Steph- I'm one of those people who can be on the phone and still wave my hands and arms around while talking!
I got behind on my blog reading this past week. Just now catching up. Loved your answers on 8 Things! You did a great job...
i want #6.
