Loafin' At Home Making Meatloaf........
I got sprung from the hospital Sunday night, and have been recouperating at home since. I do have a Doctors' appt. today, so we'll see where that goes. I do believe the rest of the week will be at home (I hope!). I figured I might actually attempt something productive- so I made my Italian Herb Meatloaf in a Crock Pot! Ingredients are as follows 1-3/4lbs ground beef, 3/4lb Italian Sausage, 2 eggs, 1 cup fine breadcrumbs, 8oz tomato sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, 30 or so seeds of fennel, Italian seasoning blend, 1/4 cup worchester, Lawrys season salt to taste. Mix with hands til blended completely. Put in loaf pan, pack tightly. Place in oblong crock pot and cook for 6-8 hrs on low, draining excess grease or liquid occasionally. Doing it this way gives you a meatloaf that no one would guess was done in a (shudder!) crock pot! Thanks again to all you well wishers while I was in the hospital. Test results aren't back yet either, darn it!
P.S. As you can tell from that beatup old crockpot, this is about the only way we use it anymore(I Have other Crock Pots!)

well I hope you don flunk....LOL get it -test results-
the meat loaf sounds great..save the drippings and make gravy.
Glad to see you're out at last
It wasn't the meat loaf that put you in the hospital ... was it?
I've never been a fan of meatloaf. When I was married occasionally I'd make it for him but I'd have to douse it in steak sauce just to tolerate it.
Glad to hear you're on the mend, buddy. Take it easy, now!
It sounds delicious. Mom made a lot of great meals in the old crock pot.
I haven't had meatloaf is such a long time.... wow! can't even remember when that was...
Your recipe is quite original... sounds & looks quite yummy...
Good to see that you're doing better... ;-)
So glad to see you are doing better!
Meatloaf is one of my favorite meals, my hubby makes a killer one but I have never been successful in any of my attempts.
Oh I'm so sorry you were in the hospital BD!!! if i could have taken you on the cruise (and your wife of course) i would have tended to your wounds and helped you feel better...which i hope you're doing now! XOXOXOXOXXO
Nice to see you back.
Any recipe that has 'mix with hands' as part of the method gets my vote. Too much food is processed in a machine nowadays. I think you may have given me an inspiration for tea.
i'm sending you positive meatloaf vibes!! i hope everything turns out okay.
Glad to see you're up and about cooking as usual!
If you email me (though my profile) I'll try to give you instructions on how to post up your award. :)
Dog- Haven't heard anything yet, I have made better meatloaf(used ground chuck instead of ground sirloin, which I thought I had grabbed...).
Paul- I've gotten sick of my cooking, but never sick from my cooking...
Steph- It's OK not to like something, I just think good meatloaf is underrated..
UrbanV- Takin it easy is easy, right now...
har- We use ours often, but not for alot of things that just don't work out...
nancy- My measurements are not to be trusted as I really don't measure much....
mel- My wife makes a 4 ingredient one: 2lbs lean ground beef, a jar of your favorite salsa, 1 egg, and 1/2 cup fine bread crumbs.Mix. Bake at 350F for 1-1/4hrs(or a little longer). It's actually pretty good!
Tanya- You would have rolled me off the stern at night to get rid of my whining and bitching!Been a little cranky about all this...
meredic- Can be baked in regular oven 350F for 1-1/2hrs also(It's better!)
Pink- Read what I replied to DogB..
Ake- I may just do that soon!
Good recipe -- hopefully better than the standard gut wrenching loaf-o-meat I am too used to. Hope you're feeling better.
That is one hell of a cooking time!
I am glad You are better! Get well soon!
I have to admit...I am not a meatloaf fan...but this does look good. The only kind of meatloaf I've ever had was the meatloaf my mom made...and it was greasy and gross. yuk!
Hope you're better!!!
Sornie- If you ever plan to make this, use ground sirloin(90/10) and 1 egg is plenty.
Mona- Can be cooked in regular oven 350F for 1-1/2hrs.
Beth- Getting better every day, thanks!
Hey Uncle Buff :)
I think you'd have to be in traction for them to keep you from cooking!
hehehe!
I don't even like meatloaf and yours looks delicious!
