Good Soups In Contest And Sunday Dinner..

Saturday, I participated in a small soup cook-off. Literally, all the soups were good, and different from each other! My Mac-N-Cheeseburger soup finished middle of the pack- even though it was the only one that was eaten down to the bottom of the pot! A couple of bar regulars won 1st and 2nd.. go figure! Still, a decent turn-out, with all enjoying hot soup on a cold day..
Today, I marinated a couple of pork tenderloins in an Oriental flavor, and served with what has become our favorite rice- organic brown! Marinate was rice vinegar, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, onion, and sesame oil. Also in the marinate was my "go to" out of the bottle sauce- Tiger sauce! This stuff is good as a shrimp dipping sauce, chicken BB-Q sauce, or great with pork also.. try some, you'll like it! Plain old chocolate brownies for dessert.. I wish Super Bowl would start earlier...

Yum! Organic brown rice is way good--and very good for you too!! :)

Today I'm bringing beef for beef kabobs (marinating in soy sauce, paprika, and finely chopped garlic), and chicken for chicken kabobs (just marinated in a simple teriayki glaze) to my parents house, veggies, and chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. I think we're all geared up.

If yours was the only one eaten to the bottom of the pot, I'd say you won, regardless of who took home the prize.

The chili cookoff here in AA is much like that. Yours gets eaten to the bottom, but the one that people can't take more than a bite of without sweating is the one that wins. Hrmph.

And do we get the recipe? Please?

Doc- Quite a bit left- what to make Monday out of it...
Snowniece- We just stayed home and watched the game..
DogB- Kind of sweet, hot, and slightly Oriental in flavor..
Jeanne- Everybody knew who made what, so it wasn't too fair!
Kate- Condensed tomato soup- big can, jar of cheddar cheese sauce, can of diced tomatoes, 1/2 big can of milk, 1-1/2lbs of browned ground beef(1/2 large onion chopped with it), sauteed sliced mushrooms, dash of hot sauce to taste, and extra parmesan cheese finely grated. In crock pot until heated through..

I wish Superbowl would start sooner, too, but only so it would end sooner. My little guys always skip the morning after, because I just can't get them up that early!

That is why I do not like contest...I am eating the boring healthy foods like those lentils this week to detox, then I will limit myself a bit of this yummy looking stuff!

Marinade was excellent Buff. Thank you. I had to improvise with my own chilli sauce and I add a grating of fresh ginger.

Mona said...

is there still some of that soup left?

buffalodick said...

Chef- Beans, lentils, etc. really give me digestive trouble!
Belle- Marinade/sauce was originally desoigned for Korean beef short ribs- but works anywhere! Good idea on the ginger- I knew I forgot something!
Mona- soup looong gone!

Tiger Sauce huh? Never heard of it. Can you get it at just any store? I would LOVE to try it for making my stir fry. Do you think it would work in that?

Marmy- Pork is cheap and good over here! I'm sorry you are allergic, but my wife loves the stuff, so what can I do?
Bina! Alive! Yeaaah! It does work as a flavoring, and it is pretty easy to find in the Midwest..
