Easter Dessert- I Bet You Haven't Ever Had This...
As I mentioned earlier, I wanted something citrusy to foil some of the rich food on the menu. My family does not like pie- prefers cake (weirdos anyway...), so I decided to make a Key Lime Pound Cake! Instead of the whole cake topped with a flavored icing, I plan to serve it sliced, spread with some Key lime curd I've been hoarding and then topping it off with whipped cream. It's in the oven right now, and looks like I used a little more baking powder than necessary-we shall see...

That sounds sooo good. I love citrus desserts. You should have some bubbly with that kind of dessert...yum!
Truth be told, I've made better pound cakes. New recipe, didn't achieve that pound cake "density". Tomorrow, I'll just goo it up with more key lime curd and whipped cream-no one will ever know....

MichelleAnn- It tastes pretty good, but I've seen a more uniform shape in a pound cake than this!

yum! I just planted a small key lime tree in my yard and got one little lime off today. I was thrilled to see how juicy they are! I should have had it in a corona, but ended up with it in ice tea! lol
so what were the reviews of the cake?
The cake was kind of a non event. It was OK, but citrus in my mind works better in pies,cheesecakes, etc. I got the recipe off the Internet from some woman who took 3rd in Bug Tussles' County Fair-my bad....
wow, this sounds divine! too bad you said it was just okay. and yes...i agree with the pictures request! i love citrus flavors in cakes, actually. my favorite being orange.
I am not a pie fan myself, and it isn't the first time I have been called a weirdo, either!

I've been thinking about desserts lately as a counterbalance to the heaviness of the courses preceding it. I forgot that key lime is a great sharp flavor for desserts. And key lime curd, yum! I'm going to have some key lime experiments soon...
Man, now I'm all hungry and shit.
