A Quick Supper From My Youth...
Last night, we weren't that hungry, so it was "stand in front of the fridge with the door open" and ponder the stash available. Suddenly, after seeing my supply choices, I asked my wife "What about Frank-Cheesies?" Yeah! We haven't had one in a year, so I began production. Oh, what's a Frank-Cheesie you ask? I have heard them called a least 3 different names, but what they are is a hot dog, with a V-shaped cut down the length of it, filled with a strip of cheese, then wrapped with bacon and broiled. served in a hot dog bun with whatever you think would taste good with it(we just use catsup and/or mustard!). The method I used last night was, thick bacon fried, then hot dogs V cut and fried, then cheese put on hot dog in bun with bacon running along side it in bun, micro'd to melt cheese(25 seconds). Healthy? Hell, no! Good? Oh, yeah!

Anytime I put additonal stuff in a hot dog(cheese bacon, onions) I call it "chicago style" UNLESS the additions are vegetable (lettuce, scallions, avocado) then it is "california style"..but that is just me..those sound good.
that sounds dangerously good. i think i love hot dogs any way. i've never had one wrapped in bacon.
Doggy- Whenever I think of "Chicago Style" , all I can envision is that glow-in-the-dark green pickle relish they use!
Pink- When did bacon not help? The oh-so-bad tastes oh-so-good!
One day you are going to have to post pictures of some of these foods. LOL
Unhealthy in moderation shouldn't be too bad. ;-)
LOL I hate that relish...
Life without a little grease once in a while is a life half-lived. Everything in moderation. ;)
I can actually HEAR your arteries clogging as we speak..LOL!
Finn- There was grease involved- bacon grease(the worst kind!). I'm thinking about a 12 step program to cut back.... There! Done thinking about it!
Amy- I give out a punch card with each Frank-Cheesey. 20 punches and you get 20% off your first bypass surgery!
jesus. sounds like a heart attack delight!
bicky:you so funny
Never thought of the bacon. We used to put the hot dog in the bun then lay strips of cheese over the top and stick 'em under the broiler for a moment. Yum!
