How Long Do You Leave Your Christmas Tree Up?

We seem to have gotten into a "tradition" over the last few years, we leave our (fake) Christmas tree up far past the holidays! We are basically too dam lazy to take it down and put it away promptly. Add to the fact that I got the bright idea to have all the lights red, and top the tree with a red angel(with red lights)-well it looks pretty much like we worship Satan! We have always named our Christmas angel something. Our first one was "The Eat-At-Joes" Angel, as it blinked on and off in a diner-like sequence. The second one was named "Our Lady Of Landing Lights" as she held a bright, non blinking light in each of her hands. Now we have "The Devils'Mistress" glowing eerily in red. We are going to have to invite company over soon,(besides the coven) as the old record was Good Friday!

Well, wouldn't it just be easiest to not bother with taking it down in all and just leave it up.

You can put in some eggs for Easter and such...

I can't leave it up past New Year's Day. Maybe a couple of days, but inside a week it's gone.

Of course, living in Florida, once the Christmas music stops, it feels like summer.

i usually take it down after near year's. because by that time it might self-combust.

yeah...i've seen STILL some lawn decorations still up and still lit at night...there really is no rule so keep it up as long as you want.

i personally want the taste out of my mouth so that shit comes down ASAP!

Hee hee!!

I always leave my tree up until Epiphany(sp) cause that's what my mom told me you're supposed to do. Your angels are as awesome as our new Nightmare Before Christmas Skeleton Tradition!!

This year was unusual for me. I had it down before New Years! But usually it's the week of New Year's or the first weekend that I'm bored or too broke to go anywhere, so I kill time with cleaning/organizing....LOL

As long as it's not outside, leave it up all year. It's less work and you don't have to put it back up around Thanksgiving. Mine, though, comes down around New Year's depending on how hung over I am.

I swear that my in-law use to take their fake tree decorated with all of its lights and just stick it in the storage closet after Christmas. We were lucky enough to inherite the tree when they started using half of a decorated tree that hangs on the wall.

I had my Christmas tree up the whole year for 2004. My friends came over and asked why my tree wasn't up, so I pulled the d**m thing out, put it up, then my husband ended up in the hospital, and well, after that he was on crutches and I just didn't bother.

At least it wasn't decorated that whole time.

It's such a depressing pain in the a*s to take the tree down!
Christmas is over, everyone is tired, and now you have to deal with the tree...
Still, I make myself take it down the first week of January.
If I didn't, it'd be up all year!

Sounds like your tree could serve as a Valentine's decoration with all the red
:-)

My wife heard about my blog and I'm pretty sure this week end it will be packed away!
But I do like the Valentines Day deadline idea Kayla!

the new question is: how long do you keep the same post up?
